Welcome Melox.

I do not have Skyhook on my GTS but from what I have heard, the standard setup is actually better so I would shy away from it.

My GTS handles surprisingly well for a car that is longer than a Range Rover so I would not advise it.

The new GT Sport due out shortly has Skyhook as standard but they have made it better.

Hope this helps.

Hi everyone, new here, just saw this thread.

Got my GranTurismo last yr, black with cream leather.

It's got Skyhook option.

As far as I know, all that Skyhook does is to make the rebound of the shocks harder so during cornering the off loaded side does not ride up as high, thus more planted during cornering.

The spring rate is the same, the shock's compression is the same, so the ride is not affected much.

In actual fact, when I press the sport button, I notice the increase in throttle response and gear change much more than the ride (even though it does feel more planted).

To be honest I couldn't tell any difference between skyhook and non skyhook and I've driven 4 GT's in anger, 2 of each.

I wouldn't let it drive your decision on a car you like the look of. The reality is 99% of the time you will not be driving the car in a way that you'd notice any possible difference.

Not sure if Meridian still have my one for sale, but worth checking their website as they seem to have a couple with black interiors on their forecourt at the mo.

Welcome Mick and Melox2..............If you read the running report on the EVO web site he also says he wouldn't have the skyhook option if he bought again...I would get to a dealer and drive both back to back and see which suits.

Thanks to everone for there input , you seem alot more friendly on this site than one i joined a few weeks ago ,anyway that looks like good info so not to sound stupid LOL if you press the sport button on a none skyhook model do you still get the suspension changing to a firmer ride .

Are there any more options that i should consider that you guys feel are worth trying to get ?

Will check out the Meridian site so thanks Dan

I wouldn't thinks so, just the quicker throttle response and gear change I think.

Hi there, I would personally go for skyhook, it was on my 3200 & is fitted on my QP GTsport.
The car is a Little softer when not in sport mode, making towns & potholes less of a chore.
Skyhook works all the time by using Sensors to adjust the damper rods to firm up both compression & rebound when accelerating, braking,& cornering hard. In Sport mode the suspension baseline setting is firmer. On Fast flowing bends, skyhook in sport mode stops the 2 ton QP from pitching & rolling. I little too hard for motorway work though, unless your in 3 figures.
As stated by others though, go for a direct comparison & see what "feels" right for you.
Cheers

I have Skyhook on my GTS and certainly have no issues with it. As Dave said it smooths out rough rides a bit better but doesn't appear to compromise handling and feedback, at least as far as my limited driving talents can tell.

You asked about other options: parking sensors, both ends. These cars are huge and you can't see either end when you're driving. Bose surround sound isn't very good but comfort seats are a nice touch. Full leather vs alcantara polarizes opinion to some extent. I have the latter and love it. Leather has less grip and the seats tend to not hold you in place very well.

Have a look at Harry Metcalfe's video diary of his GTS.

Happy hunting!

Mine's black with cream, always wanted this color combo, I think it looks lovely, but then I might be biased.

Comfort pack includes electric front seats, driver's memory and electric steering wheel adjustment with the wheel lifting for easy entry / exit. I've a suspicion that heated seats may also be a part of comfort pack (greater minds, of which there are many here, will confirm); heated seats are more relevant if you have all leather rather than leather / alcantara. I have the comfort pack and like it but could live without; the right colour combo is more important, in my view at least.

I think the Bluetooth is pretty hit and miss; you're probably better off with a headset of your own.

cheers,
Adam

I have Skyhook on my 4200 and to be honest I can't tell the difference in suspension between sport mode and normal. Big difference in gear changes of course, but nothing I can tell on ride quality. Having said that I've never tried driving full on without sport mode (on the track for example) so perhaps that's where the difference is? Certainly when driving normally I've tried in both sport and non-sport over different surfaces and can't tell the difference at all. I'm now wondering if that's how it's supposed to be?

Cheers,
Ben.

Ben,

If u take it onto a dual carriageway, at say 80 & switch between sport & STD you will feel the damping stiffen, a little gentle side to side swerving & I'm sure you will feel the difference, sport is more directional with less body roll.. Oh & the overbanding is more noticeable..
I took myQP to the Nurburgring last year, & without skyhook it would have been even more of a handful..!

Dave

As ever some great comments here. Some random input from me on my third Maserati:

-on the 4200, the difference in suspension feel between normal and sport is tiny IMHO. On my GTS auto it is quite noticeable;
-comfort pack is heated front seats with driver's memory and electric memory steering column;
-black leather interior's are hard to find as most are light inside to go with dark outside;
-Harry Metcalfe's car is Blu Nettuno with Beige IIRC;
-Maranello in Egham like the fixed rated set up for the GTS and the other dealers' prefer skyhook (generalisation but reasonably accurate); and
-my car has skyhook. I drive it in ice auto mode or normal manual mode if I am not in a rush but sport manual when pressing on. The latter offers appreciably better body control in my experience.

Enjoy whatever you get.
