Hi all,
Hoping someone can help, as I am not I possession of a tamed youth to help me.
Due to my other 1/2 being isolated for at least 30 days, I thought I’d be nice & get sky tv again. Only issue is they can’t get an engineer out until May. I have access to sky go, question is, can I get sky go via our amazon stick or can I get my kindle or I phone to display on our TV?
Hope everyone is baring up
Thanks

They block streaming from the app to TV through any service like Apple TV etc. The only way really is to connect using a computer like we did in Italy.

Although there might be an app for the Firestick. I think.

We switched to Sky years ago when we got so many repeats on terrestrial, and we now get loads repeats on Sky while the price goes up year on year (although I've been too lazy to challenge them on pricing). We've just got a Roku streaming gizmo and subscribed to Prime and Netflix (no engineer needed), and we'll dump Sky in the next day or so. We now get more choice for less money, and I've seen Drive to Survive for the first time!

It's not my subject either so my tech-minded son gave guidance, but it is worth looking at the options these days.

I have the same. Years of tv series and missed films to catch up on.

Ditto. We have Prime and Netflix apps installed on our TV. Ditched Virgin TV inc Sky Package 2 years ago after more than 15 years and not missing it. Saving an absolute fortune. BT Sport free with phone contract and beam this up on my 2nd telly screen through Chromecast cast phone screen feature - not the official cast icon in the app as this is blocked by BT Sport similar to what's mentioned above.

Sky are pretty good at stopping their services being used without their agreement but there are a number of legitimate ways of getting it onto a big screen .... the easiest being via an xbox / playstation or laptop. Or a Now TV box.

I have Sky and yes it can be relatively expensive (although I haggle every renewal and get very good deals) but the functionality makes it worthwhile for me .... and it really is the only reliable way to get a number of the sports channels.

Trying via streaming apps can (and often does) work but there are limitations.

But, Sky will tie you into a least a 12 month (probbaly 18 month) contract now and I would recommend that, for a month, you go Netflix and / or Now TV and / or Amazon. Netflix and Now TV can be had for 1 month free trial so why not give them a go?

Problem solved! Thanks all.
I returned to sky after cancelling my sky Q contract about a year ago. New contract started on Tuesday but can’t get a new box fitted until May. Sky said that I could access my service via the sky go app! Not a great solution....So dusted off the old sky+ box from the garage, swapped out the LMB on the dish & hay presto!

I got IPTV, 60 quid a year for two connections, with US Russian and German telly, all Sky Sports too but obvs none at the mo

Sky have had their money off me in the past, I don't feel particularly guilty.

Quality is A1 normally, 4k too, TBH I don't watch it THAT much, useful for when I do tho - like RTE and Virgin One (The Gards: Inside the K a must watch!) while I'm in UK.
