Silly fu**king Question

Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but I just connect the Ctek, leave the boot open and lock the car on the fob.

LED on the door flashes a bit excitably for a while, and then settles back to normal rhythm. The boot light goes off after a couple of minutes.

Been doing it like this for years

Maybe it's just the alarm that doesn't go then.

Close the boot as normal, and lock the car with the blipper as normal. This really doesn’t need over thinking!

Planning on using my trickle charger (not CTEK), do I need to ‘lock’ car via remote fob when hooked up? Or will car not activate central locking as boot will be ajar?
How long do you intend leaving it on a trickle charger, is it inside or outside. And why does the boot need to be left open.

I always close the boot and lock as it lives outside, boot seal can cope with extension lead - worst case, manual release under the rear seat if the boot mechanism jams :)

The general recommendation is batteries should only be charged with good ventilation because lead acid cells produce hydrogen during charging.

I'm not sure how much hydrogen is produced or how well ventilated the boot is, but I always keep mine on the CTEK with the boot open.

Not enough to cause big explosions. Your battery should have a tube connected to it to vent off the hydrogen. Well my 4200 had, can't remember if the GT has...

Just every few days m, cycle on and off. Car in somewhat dry if a garage.
If it’s just a few days in the garage, then you are taking it out again then you should not need to put it on a trickle charger, unless the battery is knackered. I think we may be moving on to :- what battery should I buy.
