Buy Nuvola's cheap Gransport and run it for 30000 miles, be a lot cheaper than the Ghibli diesel

If you're not paying for it, get one!

Has that not sold yet..Thought it would have been snapped up by someone who wants a weekend toy.

Me too Andy.

Phil - not an M5 fan. Had 4 M cars and i've lost interest in them. The Golf R doesn't do it for me either, although I respect them. The deals on those seem to have dried up.

It needs to be diesel so I appear to be not wasting company funds on fuel. Stupid but that's the way some people think. I understand where the tipping points are against the lower cost of unleaded etc but some of my staff may not appreciate that!

I'd also have an Abarth 595 which is a whole lot cheaper. Not sure I can collect clients in it though. Some don't get fast city cars!

There's no doubt the Ghibli is a little expensive and not much better than many cars, if at all, but they're not Maseratis. And I am a member of Maserati Anonymous.

Can't believe you would **** £9k away pa on a Ghibli diesel pre fuel, tyres, insurance and servicing. It's a very average engine, surely better to just buy a used one and keep it longer?

The left field choice for a Volvo man is a discounted no miles V60 Polestar for £40k. I'd take that over a Ghibli Diesel.

Check out JCT600 Leeds they sent me an email (I have binned it now) offering me a Ghibli lease for just under £700 per month. Not sure of the rest of the details though.
May be worth a look.
I may go there myself this weekend using that as a subterfuge because they have an MC12 for sale

Get an M5 then or a Golf R something more fun than a oil burner generic model. 800 a month will buy you loads!

Can you get a new M5 for that sort of money on lease then.....If it was an everyday car then that must be worth a look especially if you already have a MAserati in the garage for weekends......

You can get an M5 for £699 or so. But I really don't like them so that's not happening.

They do look surprisingly disappointing.

As for the Ghibli, the fuel cost difference on 10k miles pa is small so why not a second hand S? Compared to the diesel it does drive very differently and with skyhook is a much more impressive car than some might think.

Latest company car I have had the last two weeks has been a Jag XF diesel auto. Not german and quite nice to drive.

Some of the pistonheaders got the for £450 a month when they were doing silly deals on them a year or two ago.

Bought my 3 year old XJ 275 twin turbo for £24k Inc vat. Makes it a very cheap decent car to run for 1-3 years. Nice and quiet, quick, well spec'd and pretty good as a drivers car as well. Seems like better value than a Ghibli D out there for me. I saw M5's and E63's a while back for that kind of money on lease/PCP.

I have to be honest & agree that the XJ is a little large. Mine is metallic black with factory privacy glass at the rear/back end which is very very dark. With the sloping/shallow rear screen & the very very dark glass it makes reversing or looking out the back interesting! Does look very good though. Factory De-badged with just the Jaguar badge in the middle on the boot.

The engine is fantastic, so comfortable, double glazed all round but down side is that 30mph feels like 1mph so you have to be very very careful. Easy to get to silly speeds without realising....I would imagine.

Only gripe if I am being ultra critical is the later 8 speed autos are better than the 6 speed auto on mine. Not that the 6 is poor just the 8 is noticeably better.

Can't think of many better cars in the value for money stakes.

My brother & brother in law both have XF's and the XJ interior is in a different league to the XF in my opinion in terms of design & quality. Even better than the new Range Rover & Range Rover Sports as well.

Had an XJ for a week but only used it on the M4 back and forth to London/Bristol. ..however used it today around the Aroads and back lanes around the cotswolds.

8 Speed auto Diesel; hate the lag even on kick down but not a big motor in it. very comfortable, quiet and well equipped...would prefer a larger engine maybe a V6?

What engine is in that XJ you had for the week Peter? Mine is the 275bhp 3.0 V6 Diesel Twin Turbo. Didn't know they did a smaller one. I know they do the V8 Petrol supercharged monster!
