Service schedule clarification.

Hi, I'm somewhat confused by the the service schedule in the official handbook. The dealer has told me that service intervals are every 2yrs or 12000 miles. Is this the case from new or does it need a 'minor' service at 12 months? I ask because my car is 10 months old and it would need to be serviced in January 2017 if it's first service is at 12 months. (I'm wary of what the dealer says as their understanding of the ICE button was that it was the economy driving mode !!!)
Cheers

2 years or 12000 miles whichever is sooner. That's it. Nothing in my handbook about a 12 month service.

ICE mode in a GT will give you increased MPG.

ICE mode in a Ghibli and QP has a different meaning.

The new Maserati Ghibli also makes available the I.C.E. (Increased Control and Efficiency) strategy, a function aimed at reducing consumption, emissions and noise. This is a user-select strategy that delivers a softer throttle pedal response for smooth driving, cancels the turbocharger's over-boost function and keeps the exhaust's Sport flaps closed until 5000 rpm. It also adjusts the gear changes to make them softer and slower and reduces torque at each gear's take-up point."

Ah, that's how it was described to me at the dealership but reading the Handbook it states ICE is the low grip mode button ?

Correct ICE is when there is a chance of wheel slip, ie snow, ice, grass , very wet etc.... on the GT/S.

On the new cars ICE can be used for pottering around and getting improved economy. Ultimately both cars in ICE mode will give improved economy.

Tried ICE mode in the Ghibli when touring. Other than feeling sluggish it didn't give any noticeable improvement in economy.

It's both. Basically it changes gear at 3500 revs max to assist with traction and economy. It also never uses first gear which is quite useful in town as it cuts out the 1st to 2nd lurch that a lot of ZF autos have - the 6 speed in my GTS Auto has it as does the 8 speed in my Discovery.

Comments on service schedules are correct but it all gets confusing with time are there are some items that rotate every 2 and/or 4 years in addition to the regular mileage items. Depending on your mileage you may end up splitting these things up.
