Service for my Gransport

Hi,

My car is due for a service the end of February, I usually use Meridian Modena, but last time they were quite expensive so I am considering using an independent.

I live in Bracknell Berkshire, so can anyone recommend an independent in my area? I've emailed Emblem to get a quote,as they have quite good reviews, but they are a little far from me (Poole) and I don't think they give you a courtesy car, so may be a little difficult to get to for me.

Also looking at getting my wheels refurbished, I've never had to do that before, any idea of cost?

Thanks

Pete

Pete,

Not sure re service - I used McGrath's but they're not close to you. Im sure they'd pick up/deliver if you asked them too.

Wheels - ball park, £100 a wheel, give or take a tenner. Depends who you use and what finish you opt for.

Pete, you could join supercarhub...the MDs and Indies who subscribe will then bid for your business

Robert aerospace is good I hear and very cheap....

Back that up - I've used Mike for my last two services. Great value at £399 for annual and excellent personal service. He dropped me in the local town where I caught up on work in a cafe then the pub and he picked me up when the car was finished. Closer to you than Emblem I would say.

Pete - not a perfect response but I asked the dealer to match the indy and was surprised how close they got. It has to be said that the main dealers are pretty prescriptive in their approach. It would appear they do not read the forums!

However, given the experience of the forum members with the 'indies' and the excellent levels of service generally received I suspect this route will prove the better option.

I think some dealers do read the forums......but we only represent 10% of the overall owners out there.....so they can take on board our comments but don't really feel the need to act.....its more the indie pressure they feel!

Mikes a top guy and have always used him. You don't get a glossy showroom or some dolly bird on reception or even a courtesy car, but what you do get is all your money spent where it counts.

We only ever hear great things about Emblem and can I say that Miles has taken the main sponsorship for our forum, so a great way of supporting the forum is to support the sponsors back...all of them.

Has anyone used Egham Ferrari/Maserati? Any good/bad experiences with them? PM me if you don't want the details to be on the forum.

Hi Pete, take it you mean what we all know as Marranello's Egham, yeah i have used them for a window repair (one that was screwed up by Autoglass) they were excellent in picking up the car and doing what they said they would , even after a few months when a slight wind noise developed they were happy ro re-adjust foc even thos autoglass had fitted the door glass, but hence screwed up the microswitch

All in all a good experience , Mandy who ive met several times and been to Ace (she's an Alfa and italian nut just like us ) is great to deal with , just explain wexactly what you want and to be kept in the loop , ie no surprises and she'll understand , i do believe they are pricematching aswell

Hi Loz,

Thanks for that, yep they are price matching, and are much nearer to me than any other company....

It's all a bit daunting changing service providers, but I need to reduce my costs drastically this year......
