Got sommi old qp a few weeks back and it's not been out as I've been too busy and it's parked under my 18 month daughter's room, so taking it out at night is a no no .
So turns out I'd left the handbrake on when parked it up.
Jacked it up , drivers rear 20 degree move each way, wheel off and some hammer action on the middle of the disk and managed to free the handbrake shoe.
Lesson learned.
It's now dinner time ,
Maybe tmw it will get out.

Hi Matt, is the alloy in the picture similar to polystyrene? As it's looks quite thick? Can see how that was broken off?

It’s the rotary motion of the car taking up drive and a seized handbrake where something has to give.

Hitting it with a hammer (within reason) is fine.

Rule of thumb, park off and leave it in gear (on flattish ground) when parked up especially during wet and cold weather.

By dint, any point in using the conventional handbrake in a DS? Gear holds it better anyway, less thing to go wrong at MOT time....

Thank you for the explanation, makes sense now

Come on Drellis. It's not supposed to be a garage queen. Give it some Welly. Let us know how you get on. Just drive it like you stole it.
I miss it and have to watch old videos of it on YouTube in nostalgia mode

Glad you got it sorted. Agree too that handbrake on the QP exists primarily for MOT. Mine does get exercised now and then.

Now is the time to drive the car every night once your daughter is in bed. The seeds of future petrol heads are best planted in young minds. Kids get used to any noises unless the house is silenced for the sacred bedtime. If your other half is disturbed by the noise then come home with starting bag on chocolates and get cosy on the sofa. Surely all babies have been taken for a drive to get then to sleep. If you can sleep in a V8 Maserati you are set for life.

The house isn't silent, the car definitely isn't silent at start up. I did give it'l a spanking the first night I picked it up and enjoyed it as the qp really does feel like a much smaller car and I prefer the handing of the qp to my old 3200ac, or feels more predictable. If I was going to be pushing it in the 3200 I always wanted to be in the middle of the road
before putting foot to the floor,.
Or could have been the rubbish pirelli Corsa AC specific tyres
