I had a 2l 16v one of these, loved it. That stance is proper wide boy though, as you said Phil, needs set back to normal (ish) with some factory wheels. Bargain at that money though.

First long run out in it today to a car show. Had some fun and received a lot of positive comments.

Not normally one for the low stance but I think it and those wheels quite suit it

Agreed - I didnt say it earlier as there were a few haters emerging from the woodwork with "purist" love, ready and willing to lead us into the garden of enlightenment...!
I'll bet it rides hard. The longterm prospects for the suspension bushes and parts, on UK roads as bad as they are, not to mention the liklihood of scuffing the rims, must be on a par with the FTSE100 Index atm...! :D
Looks righteous. though..! :p

Any undulation at speed and the tyres hit the inside arches resulting in a zipping sound (like the woodwork lathe at secondary school when sanding!). The suspension floats so much so it's not so much hard but wallowy. On a flat road it rides really nice and corners with ease. I've never driven a FWD with as much grip in the wet thanks to the very linear way the V6 delivers it's torque to the front axle. It struggles to spin up second onwards when foot is down to the floor. If you turn in hard and lift off the throttle the rear will try to overtake the front end but no more so scarily than a 205 GTI. It will give you plenty of warning and feedback too.

9/10 for me and I'd urge everyone to try one at some point.

Great cars and yours is a lovely colour.
I'd keep the wheels but fix the ride height and lose the blacked out glass personally. Keep an eye out for cheap standard wheels to put on for resale.

It's a rear torsion beam so will first replace the bushes with either OEM or Powerflex. Then adjust the ride height and see how it drives. If it still wallows then I guess I can change the shocks. I've sourced some BBS Solitude alloys as fitted to the Storm.

Great looking car. I never understood the love for the Golf, or indeed the Sirocco when the, imo vastly better looking, and well reviewed Corrado existed.

Good luck with the sale, and great to see it saved.

If it sells it sells not in any rush and happy to keep it as I love driving it. It will only make way for the next project.

I knew I should have got one for tax free when I was in Germany, bought a Polo 16V for £9,500 new, sold it for £10k a year later with 10k miles on the clock...small but fast...

Its like find another like that and it would look cool in a small Dealership.
I'm having fun at the minute driving around rural France and taking pictures of my Renault 4 outside of older small Dealership's.
Keeps me amused anyway :)

I had a red G60 back in the 90’s. Great car took it to France on a few occasions. My friend had the VR6 Storm, but I preferred my supercharged G60. A shape that won’t date.
