Hi all, my satnav in my 4200 camp, keeps coming up as cd error. Could any body help ? Is it a cd fault or is it the unit itself???
Kind regards emanuele

Sorry, no help on the sat-nav front, but more knowledgable people will be along shortly no doubt.

That will be the disc, if its a copy it will throw up lots of faults.

New ones do pop up on e-bay now and then.

I hope it's not a hard disk error like mine ! Tried to update Sat Nav with new CDs and unit hasn't worked since !! Just keeps going round in circles from Logo to radio to map to Lat/Long to off to logo ............ no matter what buttons you press.
Not sure if unit is the same as yours, but Dick Lovetts have said replacement is 4K :(

Ren, his is a 4200, different system but that sound terrible about yours crashing.

I take it, its covered by warranty, I would get that in there quick.

I did have one piece of advice or Dick Lovett regarding the disc upgrade, I was told that you should power the unit down and back up agin between each disc upgrade due to a data transfer error.

I have been using mine of late and its actually quite good, once you have taken 15 mins to find the destination of course.

Hope you get it fixed soon.

Hi Emanuele, my 4200 NIT did degrade the disk over time. You'll be able to see it as fine scoring on the surface of the CD. I assumed (rightly or wrongly) that it was a build up of fine 'particles' within the NIT that then disturbed the laser. I managed to re-polish the disk and it was better, but alternatively you could try making a copy.

Welcome to the forum by the way. Hope you resolve the problem.

Matt, it didn't even get past disk 1 whilst loading. It just came up with cd error and then the whole system went into meltdown. Not cover on warranty as it's expired !
Trying to find a Magneti Marnelli expert that can have a look at replacing the hard disk - also thinking about sending it to Italy for them to have a look at (no other service centres closer)

All I want to do is stop the radio coming on then going off after 10 seconds. Also at night the Maserati logo is very bright and lights up the whole car - darkness button doesn't work.

Sorry for stealing the thread - I'll post another thread with a link to the youtube video I took of the error.

Hi Emanuele, some time ago I found a website that you could download and then burn the CD yourself. Just a bit of PC knowledge is required. They got me to Italy, and back of course. PM me if required.

I know Martin has a good resource that I'm sure he'll PM to you when he checks back into this thread. Also you could try PM'ing Matt (Conaero), as he too has (or certainly had) a good resource.

Duly PM'ed...Interesting that the Iveco Daily and Ducato Van also used the same discs! I wonder if the Italian Van driver has a copy of Gazetto De La Sport on his dashboard? Another of life's mysteries...

I'm a shameless lurker too - any chance of same PM please?

I bought a "backup" disk for my 2003 4200 and all I get is a message that the satnav non dispondiblies or something like that.

An audio CD will work but it doesn't seem to read the sat nav disc.

Thanks

I really don't get why anyone would use the sat-nav on a 4200. It's average at best in its performance. Specifically because of this thread, I tried mine out yesterday on a short town journey. No more than three miles. It was slow with its instructions, took ages to reconfigure its journey when I decided not to follow its route and finally the damned thing tried to take me through a builder's yard.

Plus, I can't be doing with that woman's plummy voice.

From now on, I'm sticking to my trusty Tom Tom.

I must say I have CD read errors, both with the original disc, and a newer copied disc.
The funny thing is, it will happily correctly show where I am, but must times I can't programme a route because the options are greyed out!
Strange.

I've got tom-tom on my phone... in all honesty I just like having the wee map on the screen when I drive about :auto11:
