Rosso Magma - nose repair - advice please...

I nudged someone at traffic lights a few weeks ago, no visible damage to the nose/bumper, but the paint under the lacqueur has cracked. Paint is the triple layered Rosso Magma. One bodyshop offered to respray the front end for £1k (I know the owner). Another (preferred bodyshop recommended by the dealer) says the plastic is damaged so the cracks would reappear after a respray so would replace the nose before painting. Anyone any experience of similar damage and best solutions (a new nose will obviously be an insurance job that I was hoping to avoid). Does it really need a new nose???

I had similar cracking following a botched repair to another part of a bumper. (They bent it away from the car to avoid taking the whole bumper off)

It was repaired over 3 years ago and is still fine now.

I'd be surprised if the plastic was damaged with a nudge, but only you know hard it was hit.

Can’t imagine it’s will be damaged but clearly it has flexed so any repair will need to be taken right back to the plastic / composite.

No point in going to the place that want to replace it, so go to the place where you know the owner and they want the work.

Thanks guys. I'll take it back to the guy I know, he was talking about respraying pretty much the whole of the front of the car, but will ask about what prep he intends on doing - he's never done a bad job for me yet so no need to doubt him now - but I am nervous about matching Rosso Magma though more than anything else.

spot on. fiona had the same issue with the rear bumper of her boxster, had to be taken back to base and resprayed to get ride of the unsightly cracks below the lacquer......
