Road trip

The recent road trip is over - we are back and quarantine free. I was surprised by the trip stats:
Avg Cons 23.1mpg
Avg Speed 57mph
Trip time 43.26

The car spent most of its time at 80-100 on the motorways with regular spells at 120mph on the Autobahns.

The Car was faultless (well not quit true as we have door issues) but unreal good for a 10 year old!

it was tricky - I did get to 130mph the road surface was awful and fecking trucks - everywhere - oh and the entire family gene pool was in the car!

What was your route? Which countries did you visit and how did you get away with no quarantine?

You did well to get to 120 , I start getting comments at 80 , she'd be hysterical at anything over 100

Mrs C hasn't blanched in the Jaaaaaaag at 90+ (on a private road, natch). In the GT it 60 was the 'tut' trigger ;)

Mrs Crud wakes up at 150 on Autobahns. Bizarre. Every time we edged 150, she'd be eyes wide open and back on the pretend brake pedal she kept in the passenger footwell.

More bizarre was the sodding German-registered Vauxhall Zafira that may as well have been painted onto the rearview mirror. I could lose him anywhere over 100 but, eventually, due to traffic we'd be back down to 80 or 90 and in a few moments he'd be back and wedged up my exhausts.

Anyway, glad you're back and had an epic trip. You can't beat a good Eurothrash. More details required, please!

So when we went Switzerland was fine and don't forget you can transit countries (i.e. not get out of the car) - bladders and fuel tanks run about the same duration in our house!

Folkestone transit France Belgium and the Netherlands to Aachen (Land Sud) for first refuel and toilet then down to Mannheim for our first overnight, then onto Lake Maggiore and then into Italy. Return was Viareggio to the Black Forest for an overnight with cake and then another overnight in Aachen in Germany before the run to Folkestone

Just back from a similar trip. Basic route was Bristol to Epernay.
Epernay to Lake Constance
Lake Constance to Como (via Stelvio)
3 days in Como for a friends wedding
Como to Antibes
Antibes to Reims
Reims to Bristol
Stats were:
Distance covered: 2,351 miles
Fuel: 22mpg
Average speed: 46mph
Driving time: 51 hours
We mainly stuck to Michelin ‘discovery’ routes rather than motorways until the final day blast back to Reims. But the car was a sheer pleasure and turned heads everywhere...especially in Italy. Really impressed how effortlessly you can cover big miles and feels fresh at the end.
Noticeable how as soon as we got back to Folkestone how much traffic, roadworks and terrible road surfaces there were compared to the previous week.
Already planning the next trip....
Lots of time to think about it now I’m quarantined !

That speaks volumes about a car to me, if you can do an epic drive and not be tired by the end of it, then the car is something special :luvit:
