Replacing one PDC sensor

Folks,

What sort of cost should I be looking at to replace one knackered rear PDC sensor, including painting it?

Had one that was playing up on rear this last month or so. Did the WD40 trick, seemed to actually work. Very intermittent.

I now suffer from total loss of PDC but again intermittent it’s 50/50 working / not working.

I assume it’s the one that’s failed causing the issue? Anything else to check over?

I have actually had a quote to replace one sensor hence wanting to check with the forum. Naturally it could be something else playing up?

Cheers

Hi Ryandoc - I was having the same issue as you. I just had a front replaced - the unit was £175 inc vat (under warranty). Can't tell you the length of time it took as they replaced both drop links and coolant expansion tank at the same time. That took, in total, less than 3 hours.

I'm going to paint it myself as I do have an airbrush and plenty of access to 2K clearcoat (I build model cars as a hobby) - happy to do the painting for you if you're near the Stamford area.

They did find that the muppet before me superglued the old sensor into the bumper so I will need a new mounting bracket (currently sold out in EuroSpares - but about £3.50 each). And the wiring loom has corroded so should be replaced as well. That's about £80. Can get it cheaper from the US but by the time you add shipping, etc.....

Hope that helps.

Thanks buddy, I’ve had what felt like a fairly steep price for replacing one. Can only assume there’s a couple hours or more labour stuck on it at the usual big rates.

It’s shame the sensors aren’t a more normal price as with the bumper off I’d just replace the lot.

I bought the OEM sensors as this was done under warranty. I understand there are non-OEMs (Skoda?) that are way cheaper.

Pt no.
217832 for front
214561 for rear
A google search brings up many.

I have all the colours in rattle cans, great matches, for parking sensors, shout if you need the code.
Thanks Matt will send you a message as I have a question based on experience regards my paint code.
