I'm sorry. However, I must rant about something. Because other than ranting. I'm powerless.
I don't advocate violence. Unless in self defence. Or defence of others. In which case. Go all in.
But, if I came across someone giving that buffoon we have for a Prime Minister a kicking. I'd have to
think about how long I'd give it. Before helping the blonde bast**d.
There ought to be consequences for acting like the laws you write and pass, don't apply to you.
I'm talking about lock-down in this instance. The rules were usually clear. When they weren't, you
still knew where the line was. Morally and practically. With enough certainty to steer well clear.
Anyone refusing to be vaccinated, wear masks, or take the minimal precautions we were all expected
to take. I don't care who you are. If you're reading this. You are beneath contempt.
I may as well also have a pop at my other bete noire today.
You've probably never heard of Claire Moriarty. She ended her thirty-five year career in the civil service
as Permanent Secretary for Brexit and was made redundant. So far, deserving you might think.
Since Brexit was a complete pig's petute, as handled by Westminster and Whitehall.
Her severance package was reported to be £650,000. Plus she received a pension top up of £137,000,
taking the value of her pension to £1,833,000. I can't be bothered to look up how much this is worth
as an annuity, if she took it as that. But, it's ample. Shall we say.
She is now the CEO of Citizen's Advice. A charity mostly staffed by well meaning but patchily performing
volunteers. Her salary as 'CEO' is north of £150,000. Plus benefits, which in my out of date experience
normally adds around 30% to employer costs.
Do you think that Citizen's Advice could've found a leader, who was more capable than Mrs Moriarty, but
as a contribution to society that they could afford, was willing to take say a living wage salary.
Of course they could have. Our country is choc full of under-employed retirees, wildly discriminated against
disabled and so on.
This country is broken. Apart from some stand out pieces of kit. Mostly Typhoon and Warrior. Our armed forces
are sent into the field with substandard arms and kit. Not only substandard. But extortionately costly, compared to
original bids.
Our health service is broken. As is our care system. Policing is done less by consent and increasingly by force.
Our prison system does not rehabilitate and reoffending rates are ridiculously high. Detection rates are scandalously low and nationally the crime figures are heavily massaged, lest the public throw a collective fit.
Levelling up is just so much hot air. Which is a whole other rant in itself.
Dinner is served. Rant over ;)

This is disturbing for us going to Le Mans...

I have complained to just about everyone - no joy, this morning I find this gem.
So maybe he was right.
Think I’ll give up.
Ironically coming back to UK you don’t need any form of vaccine or test.

Beware the Le Man trip.

The ******* have changed that then. Think that means just about everyone 40-70 in the UK needs an LFT to go to France.

I disagree -
Full vaccination is two doses, if your second dose was more than 9 months ago, you need to have had your booster.
If you have had you booster (regardless of when) you are good to go, well that’s my understanding

That would be my reading as well

Also UK people going to France (or Germany) can no longer use the automatic passport scanners (although no problem for Canadians or Singaporeans), but French (or German) people coming into the UK can.

When leaving the UK at Gatwick 2 weeks ago I could scan my passport, when entering Germany they checked and stamped it.

When I came back from Munich I could use the scanner at Heathrow coming in, but not when leaving Munich. Makes sense eh?

Neither of us have had a booster
Full vaccination in UK is 2 jabs - no booster requirement.
It would appear other countries have adopted this 9 month rule (Spain is another, we have a Spanish architect who is a germophobe and still wears a mask on the train) she confirmed she needed her booster to go home a few weeks ago

Cool, we’ve had a booster so can go to France ok then.

We went to Canada last month and they don’t ask about a booster.

No one checked whether we had boosters or not when we flew into Toulouse on Saturday. I don’t think the French are bothered. Everything is very relaxed here.
