Red arrows?
That will do, those squadrons were all past home of RAF Display teams
1925 Squadron 32 used Sopworth Snipes in Red
1947 Squadron 72 used 7 Vampires
1950 Squadron 54 used Hunters and were the first to have smoke trails
1956 Squadron 111 were the first official team, 5 Hunters in black and were called the Black Arrows - They also hold the record for a loop and barrel roll with 22 Hunters
1960 Squadron 74 The Tigers used Lightening
1961 Squadron 92 the Blue Diamonds once again with Hunters
1964 all previous teams were amalgamated into the Red Arrows, with as today pilots been drawn form existing squadrons.
So over to Wanderer for the next challenge
Ok quick guesses for some
1. ?
2. Hercules
3. Helen of Troy
4. Hannibal
5. Hadrian
6. ?
7. ?
8. All start with H?
Ok this has stagnated a bit, forget 1-7, re 8, i’ll just make 8 the question, though 1-7 will help...
It’s a British pre-war airliner, eight made in two variants, one Europe, one Asia/Africa, and suffered no accidents or passenger losses. However later all were wrecked or lost on war duty.
Only prewar British airliner starting with a H that I can think of is Handley Page
Looked this up after the clue pointing to Handley Page, weren't Hercules, Horatius, Hengist & Helena H.P.45s? Modified H.P.24 more passengers less bags an early version of Ryanair?
Can I just point back at my comment some weeks ago about one answer questions might obviate these ones going stale? Just a thought, like....
