I guess they are thinking Queen.
Struggling to recall what I was listening to in '91 to be honest. Dr Alban and RHCP spring to mind. But not gonna be right for this.

Freddie Mercury died in 91, so therefore I would assume Queen sales went through the roof but obviously not

Queen’s sales did go through the roof when Freddie died, and you’re on the right “track” in thinking that the band I’m looking for had more than one single in the charts in 1991.

Queen had Innuendo, Bohemian Rhapsody, and These are the days of our lives...

The group I’m looking for had more.

They sold shed loads of records all over the world.

Bingo! We have a winner.... I’m a bear with a very small brain, and I always used to think the song “KLF is gonna rock you” was actually about KLM, which is what made me think of them.

In 91 KLF had 4 singles in the top 10
