Hi all, does the subframe have to be removed to change the water/oil pump?

Had pipes split, mechanic has changed them but thought odd they went, he wondering if water pump not doing much so right side engine /pipes getting very hot?
New pipes are on and will keep close eye but preparing for the worst.
Thanks David

Thanks David

Certainly doable on a 4200 as I did mine back in 2014.
Been a while since I've been under a QP but I would say doable.

It might end up being me having a go, as echoed by many such a shame matt et al fallen victim iffy llandlords. my qp is a bit rough around the edges so not worth investing masses. How hard can it be....

Can the pumps be refurbished?
Thanks David

They were £1500 10 years ago.
Not sure if anyone has successfully refurbished one.
It's a labour intensive job but I did mine on the driveway on axle stands and was 52 at the time.
The car is still going well in New Zealand.

Price only up a bit , 1500 plus vat.

Are the f430 the same pump? As they seem cheaper and look identical?

Thanks David

Hi Phil, really appreciate your input, do you know if the just the water pump part of the pump can be removed insitu , as this is the bit that will have gone? Just wondering if that makes it an easier job?

Thanks David

Hi David,
You can dismantle it but I don't believe you can buy just the water pump.
My oil pump was in perfect condition but it's the water pump shaft driven from the lower timing gear that had rusted away the drive splines that in turn drives the oil pump so I had no oil pressure.
I would say the Ferrari one would be the same but get it confirmed by someone like Aldous Voice.

From memory you have to remove the exhaust manifold and cat from that side then with a lot of swearing it will come out.

Took both manifolds off mine as the engine needs to be lifted.
Another option would be drop the subframe and then loads of room and give that a blast and repaint too.
Job Jobbed.
