Hi Guys

Just joined the site and thought I'd introduce myself.

Going to be the proud owner of a 2011 Maserati Quattroporte GTS 29th April, can't wait! Got a lot to learn as it's my first Maserati so hoping to pick up stuff along the way and hopefully meet some of you soon.

Safe driving

Charles

Hello Charles. And a big warm welcome. Are you deliriously excited about getting the car? I was useless for days beforehand. Still am now, for that matter.

Enjoy your car and please send some pictures when you have it. Where are you based? There are various events round the place which always have a good turnout - the next are AutoItalia at Brooklands on Saturday and the Ace Cafe Italian night on Wednesday 8th.

Thank you for the welcome, I'm based in North London AdamN.
Will post pics as soon as I can, the Brooklands event sounds interesting, what's going on?

Good morning and many thanks to you all for the warm welcome.

I'll fill you in on the car in later posts however I really need to sort out a burning issue. The previous owner did not renew the warranty with Maserati and now the car is outside the 30 day rule Maserati will not extend the warranty for me.

Has anyone had or bought a warranty that's any good? Has anyone used WarrantyWise and what were your experiences?

Have a lovely day fellas.

Morning Charles. I had a WarrantyWise Platinum (I think that's what they called it) for a year after I bought mine (from Nuvola) which was superb. Not a quibble and all work through my local main dealer. The cost to renew would have been about 2k so the same main dealer gave the car a really thorough check over and told me I'd be better off putting the money aside for a new clutch in the next year or two.

Hello buddy,
Richard Grace recommended the very same platinum warranty.

I'm thinking of taking a years ticket (£1600) to cover the angles and hopefully any issues will surface within that timeframe.

The two year option is a wapping £2200.....

It's a lot of loot for sure but "only" £600 more than the first year. Clever pricing by WarrantyWise. In any case I think the first 6 / 12 months is the critical time because that's when you'll find and unearth any oddities. If you can spare the cash I'd be inclined to buy another 12 months of peace of mind IF you plan to keep the car that long (I imagine the warranty isn't transferrable?). If you can get an indie inspection or get it over to a main dealer for a check over that would be useful, borderline essential. A clutch wear reading will give you a very rough idea of when you need to budget for a replacement.

Is it a dealer or private sale?

I'm buying the car via a dealer who was selling it on behalf of a client. That's the thing, I usually turn my cars around quickly however with the Maser I have a feeling it's going to stay longer.

I'll probably give Richard a call today to find out more.

The warranty is transferable, so a longer one can be of benefit when selling the car.

When I bought my Quattroporte GT S, I wanted to get the Maserati Warranty, I was told it was 2500 EUR per year unless the previous owner didn't discontinue it, in that case you can't get it.

If the warranty has lapsed more than 30 days Maserati will not extend, this to me seems draconian and not good practice. On the car I am buying the warranty lapsed in January 2014 having had it's first service at HR Owen T 18k miles, therefore through no fault of my own I feel somewhat disenfranchised.
If maserati want to improve customer loyality they may be best advised to look to our German cousins.....

The policy is no different to lots of other manufacturers. At least they give 30 days grace.
