Mixed feelings Chippie , totally agree on the engineering excellence and passion , but the Video also smacks of upper crust eliteism and that rankles , no way were the maserati brothers ever eliteist more perfectionists and striving to be up there with the best

regards loz remember chippie im a staunch tory , but there are limits :frusty5:

I love H&H guns, cracking quality and yes they go with the Maserati image very well, pretty good combination for a great day out!!!
Com'on Loz, you'd love it, out in the Maser, nice set of guns shooting for an afternnon, then nice munchies at a refined location, what's not to like??
All those people who see you drive past and say " there goes some posh toff", don't know the half of it, but that's their problem, not yours???

Holland and Holland got tied up in that obscene Range Rover with a side board in the back and crystal glasses for the rear passengers to enjoy. Joke car for phoney people. True wealth and breading is usually hidden from public gaze for very good reasons........................Madame Guilliotine comes to mind!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway the 'Unfortunates' know who they are and only need reminding on the rare occassion when they blessed by the appearance of a Maserati.

BJL,
A very good friend of mine had the Ranging Rover with the rear furniture. I kid you not, it was great going out for a day in it, fully stocked with all the goodies. I am of a mind that I have worked my whatsits off all my life and if I can't enjoy the fruits of my labour the way I want, then I will emigrate. Fortunately so far I have just said Bow-locks to anyone that gives me a sideways glance for enjoying myself, in my way. I suppose in reality most people who own a maser are very much the same, even if they don't admit it??

Cheers

Like Loz there are certain parts which don't sit well (in terms of the personalities) but thats H&H playing up the stereotype a bit I suspect, don't get me wrong there are people like that and equally there are people in the same circles who are down to earth, if people look down on me then I don't give two hoots - life is too short and I intend to enjoy and I could probably do without them. As Robert says its a nice combination - good friends out for the day, nice location etc . Like Maserati the quality and precision that goes into the guns is superb I love watching these artists do their work from engraving to shaping the wood I could watch them all day that goes for any specialist -watch maker to instrument maker and I appreciate even more what I get or buy which is made like this because I know these people have a talent/training that I/a lot of us could never achieve
If I ever had the money for a country house/castle I'd sure want a cannon on my front lawn!!

Chippie,
Hahahaha, I like your style mate and love the idea of a canon, I'll have to try and find one. Anybody that has worked for a living, made good and saved up for what they want, is OK in my book, regardless of what acsent they have.

I recall that the owner of the 4200 stepped up-to the mark when Landrover neglected to provide a car for this video. He was on the Maserati Forum.

OK its rather 'upper crust' but I have no problem with this as most of the money spent on their products will be from rich people from the Far East and the USA...so helps with our ballance of payments.

Agree with everything Chippiepilot said but can someone tell me why you needtailormade tweed jackets to shoot clay pigeons from an enclosure

Exactly my point Geoff, i bet my bottom dollar that not one of those gun making engineering artists subcribe to the elitism that the marketing guys are professing you need to be part of the set to go shooting,

On reflection in most sports in my youth the best athletes/sportsman could never afford the correct football/cricket kit , the ones that came from the better off fraternity were usually quite namby pamby but looked the part with no substance or talent just a plumb in their mouths,

Loz & Everybody,
Have you got a downer on money chaps, or just the people born in to it?
I agree to a point with what you are saying, but it's like anything you decide to be involved with, you want a bit of nice kit to do it justice. Like me when I decided to take up scuba diving, I bought some kit to do it. I did not use a plastic bag instead of a wet suit, or a water bottle full of air instead of an inflatable dive jacket. I got the best I could afford. I think it's sort of the same with most stuff, it's just the image that get's up people's noses. I like golf and I have a set of nice clubs, I like diving so I have a nice set of equipment, I like driving so I have nice cars, I like eating so I visit Michelin * food houses. I don't do any of these things all the time, but when I do I like to look the part and if that means dressing up a bit then so be it.
I was brought up in a council house, but made myself a few bob through hard work. I don't ever forget my roots, but I would not want to go back. As such I like to spend a few bob now and again. Crikey chaps, look at what cars you drive and what do you think some people say about that when you pass them???
Cheers

Rob....no one on the forum has to justify themselves to anyone...a great variety of people, backgrounds, attitudes, levels of education and wealth on the forum....this blend, combined with a love/passion for Maserati is the important thing....cements us a a group of like minded guys

I do try to take people as I find them...each person is different to the next....its how you deal with that difference which is the main thing.

I don't have too many hobbies or passions but the 4200 and cars are important too me, my vices are few and far between, and as Rob says I don't do many expensive things often and when I do.....I just do!

Keep ing well, being as positive as you can and doing something for others at times is all it really takes.

Loving you all!!!

PS Did I really say that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????????????????

I think you have mistunderstood Rob , we all love money its what makes the world go round , and having good bit of kit at what ever you choose to get involved in is great , but one shouldn't let it change your mindset from whence you came , what guiles me is those that make it from humble beginnings that think donning a set of tweeds for shooting makes you one of the hoypoloy , and buddies with the in set , seen it all too often , most of the so called upper classes born into that kind of life really believe that they are better than most of joe public ,

People i admire are the likes of the super rich such as Peter Jones , Alan Sugar Duncan Ballantine, Jezza Clarkson etc etc you see where im coming from , either one of them would probably go shooting with all the best guns (gear etc ) but wearing denims, clothes don't maketh man, its an illusion, its not clothes i have an issue with either just the illusion that wearing some elitest uniform some how infers one comes from a better background , after all tweeds/tartan are scotlands national cloth no reason why one shouldn't wear them if your scottish , but its a marketing myth (kinda like the kings clothes thing in the alltogether ) that i have issue with

Because i happen to drive what i do doesn't make me want go out and buy all the garb that maserati store suggest that i should do , to become one of the maserati set , its the passion of drive something awesome that floats my boat , way i dress certainly doesn't suggest that i come from anywhere else other than a council estate much like yourself

Rest easy mate , i'll not be wearing any red bannners anytime soon

I sure wish I could see all of you guys (and girls) in one room! I honestly believe the smiles, laughter and conversation would be endless!
The forums here are so much fun to read because of the extreme diversity in the ranks!
This thread in particular is smart, thought provoking, and hilarious at the same time!
No wrong thoughts....just differences in opinion. I respect them all, and thanks for the entertainment!!

I really love this site!!!
Cheers!! :D

And so say all of us. From time to time someone will drop a little bomb in to the mix and get pelted back from all directions, I love it. The members are what make this forum great, it's fun with lot's of provoking comments to get a thread bubbling, we all do it!!
If I can find a canon that's worthy, I will get it. I'm not too sure if I would look OK in tweed, I am usually in denim jeans, but do like a tuxedo. What do you all think about firing my canon dressed in a tux then, a bit over the top??
Loz, I'll put my old council house against your old council house and raise you a ford anglia!!
Cheers
