QPV Ds manual conversion?

I was watching the latest Harry's garage video reviewing a modified CSL into manual for not a lot of money. Harry's punch line at the end is what else could benefit from such conversion and I can't help thinking possibly the QPV DS. Could it be done though?

I must say that at the time their were lots that wised their was a manual but I never had an misuse with the gearbox on my CSL. It was much fun and when in track made absolute sense. Manual QP is interesting but not sure if it’s the type of car that would suit a manual. What about Gransport.....That could be interesting though.

They did the conversion on Wheeler Dealers I watched last week.Probably only about $1500, and added 5k to the resale price.
But the M3 was a manual robotised to a flappy paddle.

Obviously the MC is an Auto robotised to a flappy paddle. You'd need to find a manual robotised to a flappy paddle, otherwise you're looking at major mechanicals.

There a few 599's which have been converted to manual though.....

I had two Alfa 75's with front engine, rear manual clutch/gearbox/diff, gear change wasn't as bad as you'd expect due to long linkages bit by no means direct.

I wouldn't do it, dunno how you would link the paddles to the gearbox, squeeze a clutch in, and lose all the intelligence built into the F1 actuator ECU to stop you wrecking something. Plus hydraulics to for the clutch....

Someone with more braincells on the subject would be better placed than me to clarify.

Well if you insist ;)
'The DuoSelect transmission available at the launch of the fifth generation of the Quattroporte was a development of the CambioCorsa unit first used in the Maserati Coupé. It was a Ferrari-based automated manual transmission, mounted at the rear axle in the block with the differential in a transaxle layout, with the twin-plate dry clutch located in a bell housing attached to the rear of the engine. A torque tube joined rigidly together the two units. Gear shifting was done via the standard paddle shifters behind the steering wheel; there was no gear lever on the centre tunnel, but rather a small T-shaped handle used to quickly engage first gear and reverse when maneuvering at slow speed.'

<edit> I mean the real giveaway is that the DS doesn't have a PNDR selector of any type.....

So in theory, you could make a manual GT. Which would use the same cable system as the 4200.
Although I'm not sure a manual would suit the GT.

Well I guess. Personally I'm not sure manual would fit either the QP or the GT. Also, I doubt the cables would work out of the box as (from memory) the wheelbase is different and likely the logical position of the shift to the box will be different.

Still, there's nowt as ***** as folk!

Im not sure the 4200 cables are available anymore either. I seem to remember they were NLA about 2 years ago.

If thats still the case custom made along with the associated fixings would probably be the only option.

You may be able to use a 32/4200 gear leaver but i suspect it would look like a pigs ear without a custom center consol being made as well.

Its not a rabbit hole i would want to go down.

^^ I agree. Given the choice between the flappy paddles and a manual stick (with a possibly vague feeling due to the distance on the linkage) I'd happily stay flappy. I was a naysayer before too, but in reality they are complete fun IMHO.
