QPV Door won't shut

I reinforced the edges of the holes through which cables pass with gaffer tape to stop them splitting.
And today I managed to carve out a bit of time too, so what I've done is apply gaffer tape to the holes in the inner waterproof membrane through which the cables pass. The idea is to cover up most of the hole, which has to be as big as it is to get the connector through it, so that water finds it harder to get through it.

And by close of play tonight, this is where I got to: Inner waterproof membrane, the big one, positioned , temporarily taped in place, trimmed for optimum fit and the holes cut for the cables, then the holes made as watertight as I can ( I really want to make the car's interior as dry as I can.) Try zooming in on the holes. What do you think?
Next jobs: hot melt adhesive to permanently fix the membrane in place, then put the door card back :)

Ah. Thanks very much Matt. I remember DumDum fondly. Lots of it went into my TVR in my first year of ownership - successfully keeping water out of a fibreglass car.. But it's hard to come by now, so thank you for the link. I used my last little bit to protect the horror screw in the scuttle when I refitted it after fixing the windscreen wiper linkage a year or two ago.

Some pics of the original for reference. The rear doors have a piece for the large hole and than another to cover the whole door - I took it off by using a slim box cutter and cutting through the glue leaving some on the sheet and some on the door - a bit of patience required - that way you stick it right back when you’re done.

I’ve replaced a few but that stuff you put under laminate flooring is a close match to the origional. There are different thicknesses so go for thicker rather than thinner as it tears very easily.
