QP key and card

Ok this is a little vague so please bare with me,,
Can anyone please confirm or or correct me on this... If the QP codes itself ie the key does not send the signal to the ecu ether because the aerial is faulty or the little black box is knackered etc etc... . Can the same procedure that the Alfa Fiat and Ferrari use, work on the Maserati ? Via the use of the code card?........

Might just be a case of whipping the transponder out of the key and trying it, I like to have backup plans. As I only have the one key, until I sort out a spare.

Yeah. I'm heading to Bill MCGrath to get my spare coded up. After all, I've only had it 5 months...
Really don't want to be stranded in France with a key issue. Although there are worse places to be stranded I'm sure.
