Hi All,

Not sure if this might prove helpful.

Product: Turtle Wax Gloss Detailer http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_844073_langId_-1_categoryId_255233
Price £4 on offer(usually £8)

Stars = 1

Given the array of cleaning products, I am never sure if most expensive product is always best. I thought that surely, some of the cheaper products can provide a finish as good as the more expensive stuff to my untrained eye. Other people must be buying and using the cheaper products otherwise they would not be made. Well, if anyone has bought Turtle Wax Gloss Detailer and ever bought it again, they are a fool!

I bought a bottle of this stuff. Sprayed it on my admittedly warm but clean car. The result was smears, water spots and just a complete mess. I tried to wipe it off using a microfibre cloth, a microfibre noodle sponge, but the smears just would not go away. My clean car suddenly looked awful.

This product does not do what it says. A quick detailer's sole purpose is provide a fast smear-free clean finish. This product could not deliver that, and so it has not use whatsoever.

It has gone straight in the bin.

I would have taken it back and asked for something that actually worked. If a product says it does something and it definitely does not, then the sale of goods act comes in to play. The retailer who sells the junk is responsible for putting this right. If you have thrown it away, all you can do is complain without any chance of getting a better product that actually works..!! Pity that Ross, hope you get the stuff off eventually..!!

For the sake of £4 it was hardly worth driving back to return it.

I had some Megs Ultimate Quik Detailer. It got rid of the mess left by the Turtle Wax and left a lovely finish.

It's the principle for me mate, all too many people get ripped off with this junk and nobody says a word, so they just get away with it..!! I would have phoned the retailer first and asked for a deal..!!

You do need to be careful with these finishing detailers, as they're very easy to over-apply, some contain fillers, and they have differing amounts of polish / lubricant. If you want some pointers, maybe contact Matt at D2. He stocks several different brands and has advised me in the past with different finishers for the wheels and paintwork.

Newton,
It's all in the hand shake mate and I love stereo's, Yorkshiremen would have strung em up by their garters until enough money fell out of their pockets to cover the loss..!! :saifi4:
Cheers
