Horrible thing to happen but I doubt the seller knew anything or else why would he let it go for an inspection?

I'd never have an engine rebuilt ever, used replacement every time but I'd have to hear it running first.

All you can do is appeal to the vendor. An acceptable resolve would be a 50% contribution to the bill.

Private sale after he has driven down the road...seriously, would you say 'sorry to hear about that, sure here is £4K to contribute to the cost'
It ain't going to happen, sorry.

GT3 has the Metzger block I believe. Used in all the endurance racers such as 956 and 962. That is why they are so sought after.
Yes, and I believe titanium con rods too. I went very well, no turbo either.

PM me. I will tell you of a motor trade lawyer that will be able to advise.

Private sale again, can't see what he can advise other than buy from a motor trader in future.

Its a risk we take when buying privately, and the risks get higher the higher the value of a car.
At least from any motor trader you get automatically 3 months warranty.
Bought many cars privately, but less than £10K, all others above this figure have been from dealers.

Apologies, I just assume others have the same self conscience as me.

If it had not made it to the end of the road ....but several hours later the new owner could have done anything silly by mistake, dropped it into a lower gear by mistake over reving it, anything, you just don't know.
You would most likely get a different response if you knew the seller before hand, but a stranger, unfortunately I don't think so.

Thanks for all the responses folk ad people taking the time to PM and even call me it's very much appreciated.
I won't he into too much detail but the engine is toast by the looks of it, the car will be taken to Hartech. They have an engine in that need some repair but they can do it, they will asses his first.

There's some other stuff going on that I don't want to go into that quite frankly stinks.

He did all he could and it's very strange how it went pop 2 hours after driving it away but it's done now.
