Hi B1RMA, If your prospective purchase has skyhook, then this is an adaptive system.

This taken from the Maserati web site...

Have you ever wished you could have a car for all of your moods? One for the times when you feel like taking a breezy spin, another for the times you want to grip the road with both hands and hold it tight? A luxury vehicle for those days when you want to feel pampered, and a sports car for those days when you want superlative handling and feedback that describes every inch of pavement the car is hugging?

Here's the good news: You can. And yet only use a single space in your garage.

The naked eye can't really discern what makes Maserati's Skyhook suspension so remarkable. It's not something you see; it's something you feel. And what you feel is entirely up to you.

Like all suspension systems, Skyhook has springs and shock absorbers, and of course, as this is Maserati, they are all of the highest quality. But while some suspension systems are comprised only of these components, they are merely the foundation of a Skyhook suspension. The next level are sensors six of them positioned geometrically around the automobile; they are designed to record and report everything from the automobile's speed to the dynamics of its wheels and chassis to a detailed electronic portrait of the road surface. This information is then transmitted to the vehicle's computer, where it is coordinated with data from other Maserati control systems, including the Cambiocorsa or DuoSelect transmission, the Anti-Slip Regulation traction control (ASR), the Maserati Stability Program (MSP), the Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), and the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). Skyhook then calculates, and recalculates, the data at least 40 times per second and immediately adjusts the shock absorber valves accordingly. The result is a ride that is at once fluid and tightly-controlled, thrilling and secure, and tailored precisely to the way you drive.

Make no mistake: While you enjoy the advantage of having a highly sophisticated computer as a co-pilot, with Skyhook you are firmly in control. And depending upon what kind of drive you're in the mood for at any given moment, you have the further advantage of two Skyhook settings: Normal mode, for those times when you want a more luxurious ride; and Sport mode, when you're apt to drive somewhat more, shall we say, enthusiastically. Between the two, the options are all but infinite and all yours.

Yes the car does have the skyhook option, having spent so long looking at the CL AMG which does not have springs my mind for some reason keeps clicking back to the type of system that car has whenever active or adaptive systems are mentioned, I'll will try to crowbar this into my cranium!
