Just had the Gransport serviced with HR Owen. The bill for that was shock enough but to hear I needed two new back tyres resulted in a near heart attack.

Well it is all to do with supply and demand. I spent an entire day hunting two Pirelli back tyres and they are like gold dust. Matt said I should try his guy who did manage to track down one tyre at £260 incl Vat. With the help of HR Owen I managed to find a supplier who had two but that came at a cost £349 incl Vat per tyre and before you say it yes I have more money than sense.

Call me bonkers but I want to keep my car original and with main dealer service history. Sadly that dont come cheap.

Pirelli will eventually make another production run of these tyres once they have sufficient orders but for now if you want them be prepared to pay a premium. My tyres are almost worth as much as my car :tomato9:

I saw Simon at Chichester tyres, he says you called him and he found you one, can you give him a call back either way.

Matt I already have and thanked him for his effort. Nice guy and he understood the predicament.

I went this route too Urby, re tyres, but really had stong second thoughts haivng done so. One trye I replaced didnt really need replacing and I wanted to keep it. They fitter showed me the walls - they're were really badly cracked! Apparently, the tyres were pretty old.....so I asked him how old the 'new' ones were that he'd just put on and they were older!

I think Pirellii have stopped doing them?

If I had my time again, I'd go for Conti's.

A pair of the often recommended Falken 452's are £345 a pair from my local tyre guy. The pzero rosso's are currently in stock in Germany but are £400 each!

I had a set of P Zero Rosso's which cracked long before they wore out. Hard to believe, given the cost of the tyre. I was less than pleased. The dealership took photos of the tyres so we could complain to Pirelli, but then deleted the photos by mistake after disposing of the tyres. I'm guessing they cost me about £1500 quid in doing that!

If it had been all 4 tyres that needed replacing I might have chosen not to buy Pirelli but what I did not want is to have two different makes on the car

Cracking tyre walls sounds really dodgy. I have had a number of Pirelli's and never had the walls crack on the P-Zero's, that's downright dangerous.

I was told that the likelihood of another production run of Pirelli is good once they have enough orders. As for cracking walls that was never an issue on my tyres..........just baldness (a bit like the owner:tomato9:)

Hahahaha, I have a bit of the mate, don't worry, grass never grows on a busy street. I once had some bald patches on my Pirelli's, sent them back and they said it was something to do with incorrect pressures, then sent me an invite to drive Pirelli shod Maseratis at a proving ground, which sort of shut me up.

I have to admit that I do like Pirelli's, they are very good in both wet and dry, great on hard cornering and straights at high speed, which is all I need from a tyre. I know they are a higher price than some, but I need to know my boots will give me what I expect. I had thought about Bridgestone as an option maybe at some point.

As one of the Forum's more agressive drivers I find that I only feel total security with P Zero Rossos when hard cornering at 15mph :tomato9:

By the way just had the tyres fitted.........I could probably get more for the tyres than for the car itself :tomato9:

Do you know, I've tried to corner at 15mph, but just can't seem to keep my nerve mate, I have to ease off and follow grandad round at a sensible speed. Mind you the next bend I have her skipping on the edge at well over a ton, so it evens out in the end to a quite sensible drive. Hehehe
