After some advice. I stupidly left my laptop open, which one of the cats decided to sleep on the keyboard! Don't laugh. I have done a restore, checked drivers etc. but I still have a flickering white lozenge shape over the desktop display.

I am no expert at all, but without seeing it in the flesh, looks like the screen is damaged?

Does it have an HDMI or VGA output? If so, you could plug it into a TV or monitor and see how it displays on that.

Good shout on the HDMI output, but lots of laptops vent heat through the keyboard. Or try too. Clearly a cat in the ventilation system is not ideal...

Your cats curiousity may have killed the laptop.

No doubt the cat wanted to see the content of these two folders !

Obviously Allan. I didn't doubt that for one second. I am sure everybody has a folder for wet beavers in a burn on their desktops. #private mode

Just an update on this. Over the next few days the bright white shimmery area diminished , until now it has gone. A very strange thing, probably heat related but took days to revert to normal. Lesson learnt lol.

Just goes to show..... Not always a good thing to have pu*sy on your lap... top.
