Whats the most cash anyone has ever handled and counted in a single transaction , my record was £84. 500 not my own wonga unfortunately , my best mate from Worthing used to own a 2 petrol staions and whilst he was away on Holliday back in the eighties , he asked me to hold the cash for him to pay for his petrol deliveries during the crisis, apparently they oil companies would only deliver for cash or if paid for in advance

regards loz

18k Loz.....Part payment for the CSL.....

As an 18-year old part-timer at Texas Homecare (one-time DIY superstore) I was tasked with taking 40 grand - a busy Saturday's cash takings - down to the bank in the store manager's company Escort 1.4 (a Ghia, no less!). Was tempted to make a break for the border, but such options are limited in Essex. (Going on the run in Suffolk seemed a bit lame.)

The story has the makings of a Dr Feelgood song!

The dark ages:
Renault 14 TL, Renault 14TS, Renault 11 Electronique, Renault 11GTL, Renault Megane Coupe 1.6ie, Renault Megane Convertible.

The Awakening:
Alfa GTV TS, Alfa GTV 3.2V6, Maserati 3200, Maserati GranSport.

Current:
Alfa GT JTD, Maserati GranTurismo S MC Shift, Fiat 500, 1969 Opel GT.

Matt, how does the TS make it into 'The Awakening'? Unless you had the turbo, which I'm sure you didn't ...

(sorry, OT I know)

Pat the TS was my first venture in the the Italian marque, and it handled much much better that the V6 and it was more pleasurable to have to work it harder, which you could not to with the V6, it was just too quick. The V6 is better for sure but its very nose heavy and washed out in the twisty bits.

I remember being amazed that I could enter a roundabout in 2nd in the TS, get the lock on, then floor it and the thing just went round. Also the TS had a real power band, it hit 4k rpm then took off, it was no slouch believe me. The later JTS was rubbish, an attempt at returning some fuel economy from the thirsty TS, but it ruined it.

When I recently sold my car the £ was transferred within seconds.:D

Just spoken to my bank and a bank transfer to another persons account could be instant or take all day, theres no way of knowing. I could have the £ wired to the other person though I will have to pay for this, and it could also take up to 2 hours.:(

Did not fancy cash or bankers draft. Paying by debit card?

I don't care how you pay me, Brendan, just make sure you include a pack of Kleenex

Whilst working in China I had to pay the 176 expats that worked for us, their allowance in cash ! Only about £750 each so that's 132K worth of Chinese RMB. No bank carried that much so I had to visit 4 or 5 local banks and wipe them out of their cash - all taken out of the company account which was in the name of the CEO's daughter ........... this meant that to draw cash out you had to give the account holder's passport over, not once did they question why I had her passport !
I had to stuff the bundles of cash into a ruck sack, reverse up to the counter and put it on my back it was that heavy :)
But then on the odd occasion the apartments needed paying as well I had to draw out USD in cash as well .............. that was 96 apartments averaging about $1,500 each. My driver bless him was bricking it every time I said "bank please" as he was paranoid we'd get shot and mugged - after 6 months they finally let us open accounts for the guys and pay them electronically. I still have my "million dollar bag", god know how much cash it has carried in its life.
One of the draw backs of having that much cash was counting it - so we invested in a couple of fancy automatic counting machines.

Finally on the same project, the client's accountant called me into his office and said "I have a cheque for this months payment for just over 2 million USD, can you let me have the beneficiary's details please as I can't pay the same company again due to budget allocations in the project. (how tempted was I to give him my bank details ???)

I now know where Portishead is too! It's rare that I have to resort to looking somewhere up but you had me beat.
