Parking sensors on GS

Hi, my paint shop have just called and they have managed to break one of my rear parking sensors on my 2006 GS.

They called the dealer and gave him the chassis number and was told that they were not factory fit, they are aftermarket.

Now, I struggling to believe this, can anyone else with a GS confirm that they have 4 parking sensors across the back?

just checked my handbook for my 4200 with the optional extras fitted when the car was new and it shows the parking sensors on it. Do they mean that they are not factory fitted but fitted at the dealer when the car arrives from the factory

This is very annoying Conaero, a little nudge turns into a long running wrestling match...:(...hard to believe they are after market too.......................seems bizarre!

Anyways hope its resolved really soon to your satisfaction.

Matt, I'm actually on my way out the door but yes, they look very similar to mine.

I'll get a pic tomorrow if needs be - let me know.

Cheers

Ok, Woody was spot on, the reason Meriden said they were not fitted at the factory is that the LE spec had them fitted as standard. Meridien want £80 each for them. You can get a kit on Ebay consisting of 4 sensors, the wiring, and the audio unit for....wait for it......@£12.99 delivered.

Robbers!

Luckily, I am not paying for it so I dont care, even so, £80!!!! My body shop are talking to David Askew, I am sure he will sort them out.

Just got the car and the old sensor back, here is a pic for ref, its the same as a BMW PDC Parking Sensor E39, E46, E53 & E85.

Maserati wanted £80 plus VAT for one.

What did you end up paying for one Matt? Have you got to get it colour coded too, or have you switched the internals?

I paid nought!

The bodyshop who broke it paid for it, painted it and fitted it.

Cars all back and done now.

Is this post a candidate for the spare parts sticky?
