As the title really, anyone had it fitted? Any thoughts? Ideas on cost or recommendations near to Manchester for fitment?

I've not had it fitted but the latest generation has self healing properties. If it gets scratched you can put warm water on it and the scratches heal. Some of the cheaper variants tend to yellow with age. If you have a look on youtube here :- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6oEgfdwUU0

you can get various stages of the car done starting around £300 - £400 for the bonnet and the front wings and rising to around £900 for the full car.

They all claim not to damage the paint but there does seem to be some horror stories around where the paint has been damaged on removal.

It was offered by Maserati as an accessory. I have a genuine accessories booklet from the period which shows this.
So there will be some cars out there with this fitted.
I'm only aware of one car over here with it, Catherine's red GS spider.

I've had it fitted to the front bumper. It's stopped the pebble dashing. It will never look as good as new paint but will always look better than old.
I don't like the edges as it always stores some polish which is always a pain to remove.

Reading online there seems to have been progress made with available products, someone on PH's has just had a full body job done on his 997 and claims you can hardly see the application even though the roof has a joint in it!
E-mailed for a few quotes, will update when I get replies....

When you think about it having a car travel at speed and only paint between road debris and the panel beneath is a bit post war.
The full body wrapping is very good today, and I'm sure in not too many years you will buy a new car completely pre-wrapped.

Why bother painting it at all? Have the body rust protected then wrap to order.

They say prevention is better the a cure, but I'm not too sure at these prices, I think the cost seems a bit steep for what is involved!

But will the film stop the chips?

I would still need to get the front touched up before applying Film.

The film will stop the chips. It even stops the scratches when you drive a little too close to the horribly sharp garage door frame (well the scratches would have been a lot worse without it).
