With thanks to JP and copied from his thread in another section for ease of searching..

The PPG paint code is 226679 (Grigio Mercury)

Thanks Miles, that does not look the same colour as the AC wheels, which is my immediate concern, it looks lighter? The AC wheels are a sort of gunmetal grey I would describe it as, darker than the colour in the pics above, well the close-up anyway.
Cheers

Hi Robert, Have you tried putting a call into Emblem or DL? Sure they could confirm the correct code from their database?

Hmmm.... Your wheels look like they have a metallic flake in them Robert? I didn't think Grigio did? Thought it was a gloss lacquered grey as per JP's wheels. Your wheels look more like how I did my 4200 wheels, which was a black base coat with a silver flake lacquer on top?

These are Pibbows wheels Miles, which are the same as mine. The best colour example is the middle picture I think. When I get ours back tomorrow noon, I will photograph them close up and then we can compare.

I tried when I had mine refurbed last year and was told "we just colour match".....having silver wheels, I thought that'd challenge them, but they said they'd just match them to another set.

Hmmm, I am inclined to say that the colour of the wheel on JP's Gransport is exactly the same as the AC wheels. The wheels in Robert's appear to be too dark. Perhaps the pictures are deceiving a little but the colour of the wheelcaps definitely look to be a much lighter shade of grey. To add to the confusion: also Maserati calls the colour of the wheel Grigio Mercury. See picture of the wheelcap box.

Again, hard to judge from a picture, but the colour of these brand new AC wheel rims on the ES website seems to match with the colour of JP's alloys:

Another explanation could be that Maserati used different paint colours during the manufacturing process?

Dasnny I think you have hit the nail on the head with your last sentance! I have had the same issue with ducati wheel & frame colours in the past.

The pictures of the new AC wheels look very close, photograph colour permitting. This is one of my wheels taken today, the paint is definitely metalic.

I agree, my AC wheels are the same colour as yours. But now compare your pics with the pics from Pibbows car.

Guys I have to say sorry did a bit of digging this morning and on my cars Pre delivery inspection list from Meridien it states "11 November 2001, Refurbish all alloy wheels due to damage in transit"

I'll be getting my center caps air brushed to match the wheels as I love the colour and they have been like that since delivery to the first owner. Meridien made a mistake that I for one like.

Many thanks for clearing that up Peter, tearing hair out has thankfully stopped now, I left myself three. So I think we have general agreement then, the AC wheels are:
GRIGIO MERCURY - TITANIUM, PAINT CODE: 226679

Chatting to the guys at Shiltech today and Matt pointed out that, rather conveniently, the wheel colour options are stamped into the reverse of each wheel on the spoke arms.

Miles,
When you say options, do you mean there are a number of paint codes on the wheel spoke arm, or the actual single code that they were originally painted / supplied in??

Hi Robert, if the options for that wheel are, for example silver and mercury, both colour names and paint codes are stamped on the wheel. I have to pop back this afternoon. I'll take a photo and post it. Cheers, Miles.
