Opinions on engine change

Hi all,

We've just picked up this 3200 with the engine being supplied with the car on a pallet.
The engine was repaired by Autosheild after suffering head, piston and liner damage but not run since. It's done 85k miles.

I also have another engine here in a crash damaged 2002 car that's done 24k miles and runs flawlessly.

So which engine would you fit? The low mileage engine might detract from the cars originally but I've never heard the original engine run and its not exactly a 10 minute job to change.

What do you think?

Firstly I am jealous that you got that bargain of a deal. I would not have any qualms about putting in the Autoshield rebuilt engine, I would however replace the belts again whilst it is out as they are age expired even though they have not been used. That alone will buy you comfort. Seeing the stack of new parts that came with it I think it is whilst a complicated job it is a doable job. You can hang onto that other engine for another day.

Good luck with the rebuild and keep posting the pictures of progress.

Additionally I think I would invest in a replacement inter-cooler for that side rather than try and blow it clear, it is just too much of an unknown if there is anything else lodged in there.
