I think mine was mid about the same as Grantoursimo at the time. Lower end (as is my want) Anyway, hope it pans out in your favour. Of course we want pictures

Thanks. Certainly the prices of a GT are all over the shop and vary wildly. Quite a broad spectrum of cars and prices. I think the pictures might be a little premature just yet but we shall see how it pans out.

Well still in limbo on the GT. Not a done deal either way yet. I need to sell a car to make way for it. Not sure it will make sense to have the GT and the 4200 so the 4200 sadly might be the obvious candidate to make way for the GT. Will be a shame as it is great example and if I look through the garage window it looks like my original one.

Hopefully, I'll get an update by the weekend. I don't do limbo so well.

So he has got your deposit and it’s still not a done deal ?

Yes, he still has the deposit and we did agree to leave it this way until the other buyer comes through or doesn't. It is an odd one but hopefully should be concluded one way or the other soon. The seller is a company Director of a company I know and I've been to his house, also the deposit wasn't huge, so I was OK to leave it in limbo for a bit.

That’s fair enough then, I hope it all works out ok - the Bentley looks rather nice !

I have had an update from the seller after nearly 2 weeks of silence. He has received payment now I'm told from the 2nd buyer. Not sure if it has been collected yet.

I have sent the seller an e-mail to explain my thoughts and to make an offer that I think is a fair amicable settlement to the matter. Essentially means I am fairly financially compensated for the considerable time and money I have wasted on it all to date. Means he keeps/receives considerably more money than he sold it to me for. Also is for a number that I feel compensates me enough for my loss. Either that or it goes to the Small Claims Court.

Gets on my wick when people waste your time and money knowingly or otherwise, then try to personally gain/profit at your expense. Just do the right thing, take responsibility for your actions, atone for your error and it works through the best of a bad situation.

I wouldn't have done what he did in the first place but if I had done so I would have done the right thing to appease/compensate the buyer correctly.

Not everyone is as straight as you Dean, these sort of practises are not uncommon.

When I sold my Mustang I had a deal agreed pending inspection but he would not leave a deposit so car remained for sale.
2nd buyer committed and paid a non refundable deposit, then backed out a few days later claiming health issues and asking for his non refundable deposit back.
Car sold anyway to the original buyer so I had lost nothing and was no worse off. I left him to sweat for a week but did give him his £1000 back - he then sent me a bottle of whiskey by way of thanks.

That seems a fair enough way to have played that one and would be how I would have played it too I think. You did the right thing and gave fair also ample opportunity for all. Works out right for all.

Due another thread title update then.
LOL....might be a few more updates I suspect.

I have responded, honestly, explicitly, fairly and clearly. It is now in the sellers court to how it proceeds or is concluded. There is a chance to conclude it now which I think is right and fair. Or it progresses. Seems silly to me as easy to do the right thing here. As always I suspect I might be in the minority on this planet :)
