The fact here, is the only real benefit for a timing belt ( made of Rubber ffs ) is for the manufacturers and the delaerships that integrate them into service schedules , ( because they are made of rubber :frusty6:) unike some engines the 4200 included are fitted with timing chains .....................lets think about this ............one has the option to build an engine from scratch and you have the option to use rubber or something strong like steel for durability ........................I know said the designer we'll use rubber ..........durr
This is still going on unbelievably in this day an age .................shows what suckers we are for paying out

You mean use the simpler, quieter, cheaper and lighter option? Yep, who'd have thought it!

Hmmm, so feels like just digger an ever bigger hole
I am not sure the rear cam box needed to come off but either way cam cover is off and followers removed.
Of course this just unveils a further level of complexity since the cylinder head is still attached to the plenum (now also gone !!) but also to the turbo/exhuast system.

I can see 2 of what I assume to be 3 spring loaded bolts which attach turbo to exhaust.
Can you release these and lift the turbo out with engine block?
Even if you can I am not sure you can get to the 3rd attachment bolt from above?
Is there any otherway to release the cylinder head from the turbo without access from below?

Many thanks

In a word, no.
Is best to remove the exhaust front system from below. The turbo are a pain to remove even with the engine out.

Great effort so far.

A light tap on the top of the valve stem with a hammer will tell you which if any valves are bent. They’ll sound different.
