No sound from any speaker

Gary that's correct, if you can still see your display like the photo above it's not that fuse. The radio screen would be black, and you would just see the functions around it like a/c etc.

Hi guys and thanks once again for the replies

I have to confess – due to my idiotic abilities with such things – I personally didn't fit them. I glossed over that bit in the intro to keep things simple and a friend did it for me and I've literally just spoken to him and he said they were wired up, screwed in and working fine when he put the door cards back.

That would infer to me that there has been some sort of issue with compressed/shorted wire upon replacing said door cards?

G

Indeed. But it's perfectly possible to replace the speakers without taking the door cards off *at all*.

Was this some car audio place that fitted them?

True Catman but the door card was off already as the external temperature sensor was being replaced at the same time. It's my mate who is also my Indie who was doing it as a favour for me when the car was in having it's service/sundries dealt with. By his own admission he is no audio buff but has done basic audio for me on previous cars and his work is exemplary generally. I'm going to run out of time this weekend so might well take it to him mid-week to let him have a poke around and see what's occurring. Worst-case is I'll take the car to an audio place to get door, crossovers and speakers all changed and be done with it!! :)

Meanwhile, it's warming up nicely here now so it'll be windows down and listen to another glorious soundtrack that you can never tire of listening too!! :)

Cheers

OK folks problem solved......

I had 5 spare minutes tonight so thought I'd start to get to the bottom of it with my limited talent and knowledge so prised off the grill of the driver's door speaker and started to undo the screws holding the speaker in place.....as I did so all speakers burst into life so I gently re-tightened and all is good in the world once more!! Clearly a pinched wire or the like. I love simple fixes!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks once again for all your kind advice and assistance - as ever greatly appreciated!

Go us (again)
One word of advice, you may well find that it happens again. There are flanges behind the speaker, which are covered in foam. If the speaker cables or terminals are compressed between the basket and the flange, the foam will protect it for a while. Then it'll wear through and you're back where you were.

But at least you know how to fix it :)
