I’ve stuck my pinkie in the female part, feels rather smooth, unfortunately.

Yes, axle stands on the drive, the garage space is taken up by my long term rust bucket Mini project!Well Done Matt.
That's now the second one I have seen.
Are you doing it in situ like I did ?
Yes, seems to be the case. Although I will have a good look and clean up of the female coupling first before firming up the conclusion.Matt82, I said it could be one of two big problems but it seems you've got both...failure of the pump and failure of the drive gear. The rust at the shaft is a concern for the rest of us. Did you have any signs of leaking coolant or did you have to top-up coolant often? My guess is it's the rust that caused the shaft to seize/wear and the teeth to fail. If water can get in from the outside this is a major design flaw. An application of silicone sealant may be the solution for the rest of us because this failure is not cheap.
Panic, us? Never...FYI the wet sump 4.2/4.7 all do not run this combined pump in case some were panicking
Thanks Tony, still haven’t got around to popping up to see you, soon as it’s it’s back running hey!Sounds like a challenging job you've got there especially working under axle stands. Can't offer any advice but more than happy to pop over and help out should you need another pair of hands.
GT's are wet sump.Really ?!? Is the pump not the same on the GT engine range?
