No more exhaust rumble sound

My 2002 cc got a spray job done last week. They took the rear bumper off and repainted it. I am almost certain that the deep rumble sound is gone now when I press the accelerator (specially with low rpms) . Also before I could hear a metal clunk sound after releasing the accelerator. As if valves were closing. Does this car have valves in the exhaust? And could the spray company accidentally damaged something?

A 2002 CC wouldn’t have valves boxes as stock; not to say they couldn’t have been fitted by a previous custodian but I’m sure you would have noticed. Best stick your head in there and take a look.

more likely your exhaust was touching something previously, and now it isn't?
