Hi folks

So need some help with my new acquisition :)

1) OBD port. Where the **** is that?
2) Battery? Ditto?
3) Is there a battery disconnect?
4) If yes, guess what question 4 is :)

The manual appears to have been translated from Italian via Swahili :)

1) no idea, under the steering wheel?
2) in the boot, does the carpet not just pull up and out?
3) no
4) I have a CTEK hard wired and my car throws very few warning lights as a consequence of having a well charged battery. Also simple things like no leaving the seats folded forwarded, don't use the EPB overnight or longer and not gunning it from cold - using ICE often helps in that regard for the first few minutes.

And before you ask; there's no ICE on a 4.2.

The battery is in the boot with the fuse box. There is a lift up panel above where the manuals are kept and between there and the seat backs is a panel with a couple of screws, the battery is under there. CTEK a must!

Enjoy!

OBD on the QP is to the right of the steering wheel, the small cubby box lid comes down and there are two plastic wing nut type screws
unscrew these and a back plate comes down
The OBD is on LHS at the top, access is ok

As far as I know..no OBD port. My dealership used a bluetooth device to connect to my GT. When I asked they said there wasn't an OBD at all.

Wow, some various replies there, thanks. :)

As far as I know an ODB port is a legal requirement, and it is referenced in the tech docs I have. Can't find a cubby by the steering wheel (yet). According to the manual, page 33, the diagnostic socket is underneath the steering wheel, but it's a LHD car in the picture.

I just had delivered my CTEK adapter for the 12v socket so that'll go on shortly.

I also have a ICE button.... Second button down to the right of the scree, just below the Sport one :)

Just been to Leigh. Definitely getting better. :)

Some in the boot by the battery, some under the engine cover in the engine bay I believe - does the handbook not tell you?

I think there's a thread here somewhere indicating all the fuse box locations and what fuse looks after what.

Let's just say it's not an easy read :)

Anyway, found the socket and the passenger compartment fuse box. I get what was meant by the cubby now. If you pull down on that little storage pocket, it's hinged (although the clips were quite stiff). When it drops you have fuses, relays and ODBII.

Codes cleared (although she *really* didn't like talking to the Ultraguage, full on Christmas tree effect), Misfires on 3 7 and 8. We shall see what comes back and start with coils :)

cant you take it back and get them to sort it out

Where's the fun in that? :)

<edit>
No seriously. If it's anything hugely serious, I'll claim on the warranty. If it's a coil, I enjoy this kind of stuff. And it's less hassle than taking it back, waiting for them, picking it up again. The faults may not even *come* back. Flat battery itis, I suspect. It's on the CTEK right now.

As for the rest of the warnings when it was on the Ultragauge, the 4200 would do all sorts of odd things as well, so again, not at worried, and they all cleared on restart.

Battery voltage is big problem on the GT and QP and majority of issues are voltage related.
Keeping the battery in tip top condition with a smart charger is a must.
The Ctek does a good job but needs to be used.
Not changed a coil pack on a GT here.
If the misfires come back get the timing checked on the Maserati Diagnosi.
Got two in pieces here with variators and broken timing chain guides.
Warranty is a must on these.
Phil.

Timing issue on these could spell a failing or failed Cam Variator so make sure you use the warranty.
