Newbie seriously considering a GT

Thread resurrection!
I've been lurking and having a read on here from time to time over the last few years, but my serious interest has been sparked again since noticing the prices of the 4.7 GTS have come down a fair bit since I was originally looking, so here I am.
I decided a few years ago that it was definitely the 4.7 I was after, but unfortunately decent ones were out of my budget. Also work was a bit unstable at that time so didn't want to stretch myself too much and end up with a car that I couldn't get rid of quickly if I needed to free up some cash.
I ended up with a Nissan GT-R, which I have been thoroughly enjoying for the last few years, and I absolutely love it, but feel now might be the right time for a change.

I now have a 1 year old daughter so should probably slow down a bit, and the extra room in the back of the GTS would probably be a good thing going forward, although the boot is a fair bit smaller!

So I'm in the market and looking for the right one. I'm not sure if I'm gonna sell the GT-R private yet or trade it in against a GTS, or I suppose a swap of some kind wouldn't be out of the question if a GTS owner fancied it..... But I'm also in a position to use cash if I had to, and the right car/deal came up as I know they do on here from time to time

Current wish list is 4.7 -
MC Shift (might consider an S but would prefer it to have Sport pack etc to get as close to an MC as possible)
Black or Grigio granito (although Mark's Nettuno blue one is very tempting at the moment and have been chatting with him about it) Also don't mind red or white if they have black accents.
Interior either Black or the lighter shades of cream.
Would prefer a 2010+ due to variators and general age related stuff
and circa 40k miles or less as I can see me keeping it long term.

Exciting times. :shy2:

Good choice. Mine is available at £29k but miles are higher but again it doesn't show it.

I've been looking at yours for some time, as it really is stunning, obviously well looked after and exactly the look I like. It is just the mileage, but I know that is reflected in the price.
What is the rear spoiler on yours? Strad? It looks awesome !

It's an aftermarket one but very similar to the Strad one yes...

Why does everyone get hung up on mileage.
I would sooner buy a car with 100k with an impeccable history and file of every penny spent, than a car that gets serviced according to mileage or a dodgy Dave car sales that's been bodged for a sale with a sub 40k miles.

I'm not hung up on mileage at all, but part of the problem with cars like this, is that a lot of people are, so it makes selling it harder. I've got nothing against a well maintained 'higher' mileage car at all, as I think regularly used cars tend to be more reliable. I judge all cars on condition and detailed service history, not just stamps in a book and low mileage.

My current reasoning for wanting one around 30- 40kmiles is that it would have been used enough to highlight any issues but also means if I keep it for a good few years (which I probably will) then at my average of 5k a year the mileage will still be reasonable if I do want to move it on.

But the main reason, is that there is not a big enough price difference between the higher and lower mileage cars at the moment. Circa 60kmile cars are £29-30k ish and 40k mile cars can be had for around £31-32k ish. If condition and history were equal for the extra 2-3k I'd rather have the one with 20k less as it would give me 4 years driving before I reached 60k.

But if the right car came up at the right price, I would't be bothered if it had a few more miles.

I'm amazed at the market right now and maybe I view money differently than others and buying a car. I've spoken to a few people recently who are gobsmacked when they see the car and find out it is sub 30k but when the offer is there for them to have it they don't act on it.

It is a weird market & time for sure. I've been looking at buying a TVR & many of them are silly money & far too much compared to a GT S for one. They aren't selling mind but I have no idea why they are the price they are.

In comparison an early Evora @ 25k seems better value compared to the silly TVR prices.

I get TVR's but they are even more flawed from the outset with regards to development, reliability & quality of car. They need to be cheaper as a Sagaris at between 50k-100k makes no sense at all.

Chimaera's are 8k-30k, Cerbera's & Tuscan's are 20k-50k, then the Tamora 22.5k-35k & T350's at 25k-40k.

They are 12 years to 26 years old & jumped up kit cars so prices at the moment make no sense to me. Have been tempted by an Evora @25k though as that looks better VFM for me for a decent car.

Agree that your car looks cheap but I think that the GranTurismo is just reverting to Maserati type as it gets old with people scared off for all the usual reasons. Puts me off selling mine as I cannot be bothered with the hassle, just keeping it and using it less and less.
