Actual, after reading the advert on here I think the price is about right now. My own blue 4200, a revised 2003/03 reg car was sold two and a half years ago with similar miles for about the same £££

mine did have a 'by the book' service history and had just been checked out and servived by Emblem prior to sale but the clutch was at 70% with a hint of 'Hoot' when cold...but no hint of slip etc...so £12,850 is fair even for a face lift if its history and condition are to standard.

By the way my old 4200 is up for sale now with 6k added to the miles and a new clutch for only £1k less than I sold it for in 2012.

From my recent experience I would say the price was about right before, and that at 12850 its a steal, and a dealer will be buying that and throwing a few grand on top, especially as its a facelift.

I'd agree with you Smasher. If it's a good car with good history and recent clutch, it's an absolute steal. The colour works against it a little and the wheels, but f it's a good car, proper bargain. The fact that I'm really busy and the car is in Kent is the only reason I've not enquired.

on a slant to the subject of getting a mas. would you consider a cat c or d if an inspection proved positive, especially given the 50 or 35% difference in price?

I think I know why you might be asking this there is a very nice one for sale that was a cat D, I think it went through a flood and had a new engine fitted, I didn't look at it as it was to far from me, I guess its only a question you can answer yourself, me personally I would not buy one, but if it was mint, and it was something like an engine write off that classed it as a write off rather than accident damage, I might think about it if I was going to keep the car for along time.

Or it may be the black one on ebay...front and rear wings damage after a aquapalne spin.

For me it would all be down to the repairs rather than the origional damage...even a poorly painted scratch can detract from a car.

agree with what you all say. if the repair (or replacement if engine) has been done to an indi maserati inspection standard then I prob would consider one since this is not going to be a "flash n' drop" purchase.
was not thinking of any one for sale just now in particular but know a couple of friends who have had cat c or d and felt they were the best value they ever had in a car (neither massers bytheby) they did, as you have suggested, have them fully tested, including a rolling road up to speed test.

I have a cat D Gransport Highlander. It's very well known here as it was bought and repaired by one of the forum founders. The damage was cosmetic only with new bumper, fog lights, grill and one wing. If you can see full evidence of the damage, repair and then get it inspected it could be a winner. Its the 2nd cat D car I've owned after a BMW z3m coupe which had a wing and bonnet replaced only and was the steal of the century at 50% of the equivalent non cat car.

I have had to improve on some of the repair which, although certainly a decent job, required some extra rust proofing and fettling to make 100% for my standards. I'm more than a little anal about these things though!!! I think if you asked 100 people, only a handful could tell it had been repaired.

Happy to send you before and afters if you pm me and you can see what it took to write off a GS in 2008.

I looked at this one over in Wales. Advertised without mentioning the Cat D, bit annoyed I'd schlepped over there for that....its not that good condition, quite poor underneath.
There is another one just come up on ebay....looks heeps better, Cat D side damage.
