I've had both. The 3200 certainly ticks all the emotional boxes - turbo rush, boomerangs, etc. but frankly the 4200 is a superior car. Far too many issues to be comfortable with a 3200 no matter how good it is. Still miss mine though :)

Had both, still have the 3200..!! The 3200, if you get a good one, is a great car and has the rush you get from the turbo's..!! If you decide 3200 try and get the latest you can, 2001 / 2002 cars had the upgrades that made the car a lot easier to live with..!! Then of course you have the 3200 Assetto Corsa, which is just terrific and a big leap up from the standard 3200..!! Good history is essential from dealers, or specialists, not joe bloggs garage..!! Get an inspection done..!!

I think I would prefer a late 3200 AC to an early 4200..but it all depends what suits you after a test drive....

cheers guys, you are confirming what I thought. a 4200 would still be my preference but only if an inspection was positive, that said, I'm still not ruling out a good example of a 3200.

For the money you said you want to spend you will get a great 4200...Late model......Probably a better bet....but get out and drive a few and see what you think...

A super 3200 is hard to beat...........or so Dem says....;).....but as ever buy the best you can, keep a little warchest handy as things do wear out after a certain age etc....for peace of mind as Andy says, a later 4200 the one to plump for

Thanks for the testimonies gents as always. Highlander, I said a brief hello on the 'other side'; if I can be of help I will. I have a 3200 and a 4200 currently undergoing inspections and they'll be up for sale in a week or so. If you just want to pick my brains about the different models and any other cars, I'll do my best to help you out.

Strange how the 05 car has the earlier classico wheels on rather than the later 7 spokes. Phil.

thanks kev, nice offer which I may take you up on. going on hols next week and back 1/3 so plan to move the corrado out the garage and to a new home (been sitting there for 3 years :( ) and sort my finances out then seriously look around instead of "window shopping".
interesting, that is nearly 2k more on here than AC? take it the advert here is a little older than the AC one though.

Pistonheads is always a good browse for decent 42s and most if not all are reasonably priced :)

Bought my 4200 from Dicky Grace. Very pleasant and confidence inspiring transaction. Paid £16.5 for late 4200 but with service, inspection, new clutch & warranty you could say £13.5 plus work I would have needed doing. Dicky gets inspections on all of his cars so would recommend heartily.

agree, he has come highly recommended as have a couple of other dealers including PK, which is reassuring for newbies like me, though with only a budget of 13-14k I may have to dip my toe in the cold waters of inspections and unknown dealers/private:unsure: ..........still, will be fun looking whichever way I go!
