New to the forum and with some exhaust questions.

A big hello to everyone from Melbourne.
I am new to the forum with this being my first ever post on Sports Maserati or any Maserati forum for that matter. I have a 2005 Maserati GranSport (Euro spec) finished in Nero Carbonio w/ Bordeaux half leather, half technical cloth interior. The car is currently fitted with Tubi mufflers but no other mods so far. My son has been begging me to purchase and install Larini sports cats, X-pipe (ClubSport centre section), BMC Air filter & FD DBWEM w/ 'Aggressive' & 'Very Aggressive' settings. I was just wondering how loud this exhaust setup would be, as the Tubi mufflers are already loud (But not loud enough according to my 13 year old son), with lots of pops and crackles on the downshifts. However he wants Gunshots! I would say you could get that with the Larini sports cats and X-pipe, especially since the car is a Euro spec. Thoughts and opinions welcome.

Kind regards,
Felix

Welcome to the fold Felix. Post up some pics when you can.

We have quite a few members down under. One (Aussie Al) is flying over and riding shotgun with me down to Modena for the Centenary celebrations.

We are one big happy family.

Any questions just ask away.

Thanks for the warm welcome Conaero. It is amazing to see someone has replied so fast! I am definitely glad to be a part of your big happy family. I will post some pics as soon as I figure out how to post them. I would also like to get your opinion on the exhaust, as I have been reading various threads including Giallo Gransport's and watching the corresponding videos, trying to find the perfect setup. You seem to be an expert on this, so I would love to here some of your thoughts.

Kind regards,
Felix

Here are some pictures. The last picture of the interior is from a recent detail. The car isn't a very high spec, but that's what my son and I love about it! Enjoy! By the way, the car only has 30,150 Km/18,850 Miles. :drinks:

Kind regards,
Felix

Welcome to our world.
Every Maserati is high spec my friend plus they are highly addictive so beware.
Looking good to me.

Hi Phil,
I am a little bit confused on what you mean by, the handbrake looks typically Italian and wants an adjustment?

Kind regards,
Felix

Hi Felix looks to be at maximum travel with very little reserve mate.
Would suggest it wants the shoes adjusting in the rear hubs.
Phil.

Hi Felix
Phil means it is sitting too high.
Welcome to the forum mate. You should look at joining our little group in Melbourne.

Thanks Phil. I will make sure the car gets a full check over when it goes in for its coming annual service. Thanks for the tips, I appreciate every single one of them from the fantastic people of this forum.

Kind regards,
Felix

Welcome, Felix. If you fit all of the Larini parts you've mentioned then you'll definitely get gunshots! Mine has a h-pipe instead of a x-pipe. It gives a lower, more bassy note but also provides plenty of pops and bangs. The x-pipe delivers a higher, more raspy exhaust note with more crackles, pops and bangs than mine. It's all personal choice, but I'm delighted with the noise mine makes. Post #35 on the thread below will give you a decent idea of how mine sounds:

VMSRTI, I would love to know the details about your little Maserati group in Melbourne and what cars are in it. Is it just GranSports? Or several other models? Never the less, all details would be much appreciated, as it sounds like a massive load of fun!

Kind regards,
Felix

Great looking car, looks a lot like my 4200 GranSport wannabe, except yours is really a GranSport :)
My car is running a Larini x-pipe and Larini valved rear boxes. it does make a lot of crackle and pops but I definitely want to get the sports cats in the future to have gunshots!

Thanks MAF 260, My son has been showing me your videos ever since they have been uploaded. He just can't stop listening to the pops, bangs and crackles your beautiful car makes! Utterly addictive sound! Do you think that the Larini pipes combined with Tubi mufflers and Euro spec manifolds would be louder than your setup?

Felix I see your handbrake looks typically Italian.
Wants adjustment I reckon.

Yes Felix, a definite hint of "Horses Willy" there, needs looking at, you will probably find the rear shoes have de laminated or the cable has come off one of the pull mechanisms.

Felix we have 3200's, 4200's, Gransports, spyders and I think one QP.
We go on a few runs and get together for breakfast a few times a year. We had a great day out for lunch at a Winery near Portarlington two weekends ago. We also have a chat group which is very useful for advice and nutting out problems.
PM me your email address and I will forward to Adriian who will send you an invitation to join.
Cheers
