New Ownership Gran Tourismo S issues

Hello all

a reasonably new member and owner of a 2008 gt s.

have owned it approximately 3 months and use it now and again.

Basically, I am wondering if the amount of faults I get on the car that come and go are normal for owning one of these or I should really be looking at getting it sorted out.
Currently, the check engine light has come on twice and my code reader says misfire cylinder 3. Seems it is only at start up but the code reader needs to reset the fault. Now the electronic break is alarming out saying take to main dealer. This happened once and not happened since. Also, the sat nav screen some times goes white and sometimes doesn’t.

mom wondering if these are just things to expect with ownership as they seem to come and go or I should keep taking it back to the garage for repair?

thanks

I do have warranty and was planning on sorting it that way but it seems to be problem after problem. I would say 50% of the time getting in it I have some sort of issue to the point I don’t want to drive it in case there’s another issue!

What sort of warranty do you have with the car?

You have a bit of a mixture of issues:

Misfire Cyl 3 is probably a failing plug or coil pack. What is your mileage and were the plugs changed at the last big service? It would be a good idea to sort this out, as it will only get worse.

The EPB could just be grumpy if it has only happened once. Keep an eye on that, unless your warranty covers it.

The Nav white screen is probably a pending NIT failure, most likely the hard drive. Again, depending on your warranty, worth sorting. There are a few cheaper repair options around.

Thanks for the reply’s, will contact the dealer tomorrow with my issues. Just don’t want my time owning this beautiful car to be back and to from the garage. The misfire fault has only recently came since the car had the variator issue resolved so possibly a bad connection.

In terms of problems, they are pretty standard on a 12 year old car. The owning a Maserati is a rewarding experience, but it will try to test you every now and then! I would rate these as niggles, get them sorted and you will probably be golden.

^^^ what Zep said. Not every reported error is actually reporting a defective component. Get the misfire looked at. Many other things "settle down".
It can of course depend on the owner expectation. These are oftenbuilt on pre-conceptions which serve to inflict huge depreciation on complex desirable cars. The public perception of "reliable german" cars and fragile rusty Italian motors has been around decades. I see these as positive features, which first got me into a 5 year old 3200GT for less cost than a new Alfa Brera or Audi TT.

If youre not using it much then keep it on a trickle charger, mine get very uppity it it isnt charged and throws little hissy fits....usually starts with the parking sensors. If I keep it topped up it's perfect.

Had mine since Feb, throwing codes all the time. Just as i am about to take it back to the garage it's fine again really annoying! Guess I will have to learn its quirks as we get to know each other. I love this Car! brings a smile to my face each time i drive it
