Hi, just found the forum tonight and joined. I took delivery yesterday of a 2017 plate Granturismo Sport. See pics below.

Love the spec. A couple of niggles that the dealer is sorting for me, one damaged alloy, and handbrake not working properly, which may work out expensive, but for him, not me.

Only had it since yesterday, but enjoying the drive and the noise! Most of the car is spotless, but my one concern is the mileage, 41,500 miles. I really wanted a 2017 for the £500 road tax saving, and 2018’s with the facelift and better tech were out of reach. My choices were very limited, 1 maybe 2 cars to choose from.

So, as above, I’m having a bit of buyers remorse right now, have I made an expensive mistake buying a car with 41k on it when I’m likely to add 8,000 a year!?IMG_0998.jpegIMG_0999.jpegIMG_1010.jpegIMG_1009.jpegIMG_1007.jpeg

Hello, and welcome!

The car looks great, I love the two-tone seats.

I wouldn’t worry about the mileage. You’ve already bought a car with high mileage, so as long as you are happy with the idea that when you come to sell, it will have depreciated more than others.

Grigio Touring is rare on a Granturismo but looks great! I wouldn’t worry too much about the mileage. The dealer will sort the issues and then it’s there to be enjoyed and driven. I’m tentatively in the market for a Granturismo having had one previously, so I’m looking forward to soon being in your position. Enjoy

That’s what I’m not sure about. Because their are hardly any cars 2017 onwards right now, it was a decent price, but now super cheap.

Paid £44k for it, which looked low compared to the few 2016 and 2017 options out there. But perhaps didn’t consider enough that it’s a proper second car for us and I’ll be adding 8k a year, not 3k!

As a distance sale I can change my mind, although I don’t suppose they’ll make it easy for me. I wouldn‘t.

Nice car. I wouldn’t worry about mileage. It’s only done 6k/miles a year. These engines are solid, no reliability issues and as we all know, Italian cars don’t really like being sat about not being driven!
Enjoy!

Thanks, it was the colour that I loved about it. But, the carbon extras is what make it I think, not sure I’d have gone silver without them.

Welcome!
A 'higher' mileage car will always be cheaper than an equivalent low mileage car, but then you know that, because you bought that one for a good price for that reason. As long as you accept the fact that when you sell it.

As said above, these cars tend to behave much better when when driven regularly, so don't let using it worry you.

My only wonder is why you felt the need to save 500 quid on tax? In maserati ownership costs, it's quite a small amount.... 3.5 tanks of fuel, or 2 tyres, or half a brake disc lol.

If you wasn't so fussed about that, you would have had a much larger choice of cars.

But hey, the one you have is lovely, was decent price, and as it has a few miles on it already, you'll be less concerned about adding more on it.

Enjoy!

Actually, the tax thing was part of my man maths. Similar, or a bit lower mileage 16 plate cars, even 15 plate cars, were only around £2-3k less, and some were more.

I didn’t buy my car for cash, 50% was borrowed. So nearly 50 a month less in tax is around £2k in borrowed money. Which then made the 17 plate cheaper than the 15 plates, 2 years older.

AND, more importantly, this is sort of my wife’s car, and it repaced a newish Mini Clubman JCW and I said other than the repair and maintenance cost risk, everything else, monthlies, insurance, tax would be the same. And they are :thumb3:

You said you didn’t understand, welcome to my A Level man maths :):):)

Car looks great Alex22.
Back in the 70s and 80s 100,000 miles use to be a sign the car was probably due an engine rebuild especially as most people never bothered changing the oil. Fast forward and here we are with far superior oil with fully synthetic, regular oil changes, much better built engines and we’re talking 41000 miles being high.

What a great looking GT. Silver is very underated and one of the best colours for me especially with you spec car. Really shows the lines of the beautiful Maserati. Enjoy.

I love it that man maths can make a Maserati appear to be the same price as a Mini. Very creative!
Lovely car BTW.
