I have measured the consumption in mine over the last 7 tanksful, calculated by brimming the tank, converting litres to
Imperial gallons and the mileage covered since the last fill. It would appear that Klive isn't the only anal one amongst us.
Here are the results.
19.74mpg
19.64 mpg
20.77 mpg
19.70 mpg
20.94 mpg
19.37 mpg
19.83 mpg
These average 19.99 mpg - astonishingly close to the figure the computer shows. YMMV.
The photographs shown above were taken less than 2 minutes apart. The car was stationary but the engine was running. I changed the units back again after taking the photos and there was no change in the consumption figures shown in the photos.
The first photograph was taken after the second. I put that photo first because I wanted to show the mpg figure first seeing as that's what a few of you seem to be confused about.
The difference in the travel time (0:23 and 0:24) is because it took me a minute or so to change the units and take the next photograph. Travel time increases even when the car is stationary. The range reduced 1 mile because the car burnt some petrol while I was sitting taking the photographs.
Benny D - have you got any suggestions how I can change the units instantaneously so that I can prove my car measures consumption in Imperial gallons? If you do, maybe you could check yours and let us know. If you have any difficulty with the conversion, I'll happily do it for you.
