My old GS!!!!

Sorry for not posting sooner.

Car is lovely and in the same great condition as when Dicky sold it to me. It is a shame to sell it and I do love to drive it (it is so much more satifying than my old 911). It was intended to be a weekend car as I have a run about for the week and wouldn't fancy parking it at Crewe station overnight. But it hasn't quite worked out as we still seem to use our Land rover at the weekends (to fit in all the baby garb) - so the car has turned from garage queen to garage goddess. Coupled to this things are a little tight as my wife has been off on maternity so using my head rather than my heart I thought I would see whether I get any interest. I would like to think that I would jump back into a Maser next year when things are a little easier.

It is of course due a service and the price is ono - so I'll see whether anyone is interested. I'm not in a huge hurry and if I don't get any takers I'll be keeping it and taking it out for as spin as often as I can.

Not too sure about the timimg chain - I didn't think that these needed to be replaced (or not until ~100k). I thought that only the 3200 had cam belts needed and only the aux belts (alternator etc) needed to be inspected on the GS.

I haven't posted much in the past, but I have really enjoyed reading this forum. If anyone knows anyone who would be interested or if anyone has any questions I would be happy to help.

Simon

Well good luck with the sale Si ... I think it's load of car for the money..

Done a bit digging around and it is the 3200 which needs cam shaft timing belts replaced at 68k - the 4200 and GS don't have them so don't need them replaced. It's only the aux belts which need to be checked and replaced if ncessary on the GS at the next service intervals.

I guess it would be good practice to change the chain at ~100k - I know that this what you used to do on the older Porsches (it wasn't part of the service schedule just recommended by specialists) - so I guess the same would apply to Maseratis.

I'll let you guys know how I get on and if anyone is tempted we can always talk figures..

Sorry re the confusion on the timing chains. I spoke to Autoshield last week and asked about 6 yr service on a 4200 and I'm sure he said that strictly speaking it was 6yrs but it was the mileage that was more important. As far as technical issues, no idea so sorry for any confusion caused. I had them done on my 3200 a few years back and know it's a big job.

I am - but then I feel a bit gutted everytime I go into the garage for something and realise I have nice motor just sitting there with no real prospect of driving it until maybe the weekend or even longer.

Just a shame that I catch a train to work everyday (150 mile round trip) as if I actually drove to work I would ditch the Lexus and go with the Maser without a doubt.

I must say I could never have a car like that and only drive at the weekend ... It would kill me.

Are there some nice places in Mansfield Dem, ive been up there a few times to view cars at HBC yard and it looks the pits , real bleak , not the sort of place i'wd want to leave either of my massers , longing for a decent drive now , what with work commitments and winter afraid both of them are getting severely neglected on the driving front , they have both had a severe canubering and winter sorting just not getting the time to drive em , i want to take some time off , but just feel i should be grabbing what work is out there whilst its there ,loads in the offing but this is why i hate the recession takes away the oppurtunity to be choosy , Looking forward to the meet now

Think the missus was based in Woodhouse for a few months a year or so ago, with her company , they built a big retirement village up there , was well bleakish
