Hi Stu, Hope all is well with you? Best of luck with the sale! Your cars a good'un with the perfect colour combination, though I would say that wouldn't I :D Hope it all pans out so you can move on to a GS.

As for the whole Larini thing, I guess the cleanest and swiftest thing is to leave them on the 4200 and sell it with them installed, and hopefully at a premium as well, but if timings allow I would remove them and put stock CC and back boxes on. They come up pretty regularly on ebay etc and you'd then have the Larini kit to either sell separately (they would more than cover your outlay for the stock items) or move them over onto the GS. If you choose the latter, Larini will retro fit the valve system for you, or alternatively there are after market valve kits available to tie it into the GS setup.

As for the sound. Larini CC and back boxes on a 4200 is very different to a stock GS, whether the valves are closed or open. Very different tone and much louder with that glorious overrun, so if that's what you want from the GS, might be worth hanging on to your larini kit and either adapting to fit or alternatively selling it separately and putting the nett proceeds towards valved GS Larini's. Worth a call to Larini I would have thought?

Cheers, Miles.

ah yes. The GS back boxes have swichable valves, which of course the 4200 would not be able to activate. I'll wait to see if Matt or Loz have any suggestions for someone potentially moving from Larini 4200 to GS in terms of what difference in sound to expect and what can be done to maximise the audible presence of a GS.

Don't forget, you can also switch out the piping from the back boxes to the exhaust manifold in order to control the sound - and of course improve performance. If you buy COTS, e.g. Tubi or Larini, then you do not have too much control over the sound. However if you buy custom - as I did - then you can specify more or less what you want in sonic terms. A Maserati at full chat is a wonder to behold, but remember that the louder you go, the more noise and vibration you may have to live with in the cabin on those long motorway journeys.
