MSP or ASR disable

The owners manual seems a little contradictory on this so hoping someone may have a definative answer?

MSP (Maserati Stability Program) is described as a catch all for the following systems

ABS - Anti Lock Brakes
EBD - Electronic Brake Force Distribution
ASR - Anti Slip Regulation (Traction Control)
MSR

However it then goes on to say that holding the MSP Button for 2 Seconds disables the MSP. All good so far

However this is then followed by an almost identical paragraph that states holding the MSP button for 2 seconds disables the ASR.

So which is it does it disable the MSP (and therefore all of its subsystems above including ABS) or does it just disable the ASR?

ASR this is pretty normal being able to disable "Traction Control" never seen a car where you can disable Anti-Lock brakes

What it means is that pressing the button for 2 seconds disables ESC and ASR. Thats why the light indicating they have been disabled is the same symbol.

Just to avoid any confusion, this OP has a GT / QP / GC and that was ASR and ESC throughout. The two prior posts are about the Coupe.

Early BMW E46 M3s have traction control where one long press of the button kills it. Then there is a "hidden" function,, where another long press of the button kills the ABS too. If you want all the systems re-instated, you need to turn the car off and restart the engine.

Very handy for street registered drift cars, where you tap into the rear brake lines with a hydraulic hand brake. Yanking on it, on an ABS-equipped car won't do much. But works wonders on a non-ABS one. Handy for passing MOT and any normal driving - no warning lights and a fully functioning ABS. For some reason, when BMW moved to the great programable Teves/ATE version, the hidden ABS off function was eliminated :(
