XJ is a big car and personally I think the XF has a nicer interior.
We all like driving and the XF is perfect for that especially on the countryside roads around here in France.
The best bit is people say its a Jaguar the same as they said Maserati.
I have to say for a car that was to be a temp fix I'm impressed.

Much better looking than the Mondeo underneath

I like the old style Jags but couldn't convince myself to buy one with my own cash. I think they did a great job of getting rid of that golf club stigma with the XF & XJ.

Personally for me the X351 XJ interior is light years better than the 1st gen XF. It is one of the main reasons I chose an XJ over the XF.

Couldn't fault it and only because I fell out of love with boom/bust power delivery of modern narrow power band diesels coupled with major business changes forced me to offload.

OK. It's almost certainly been asked before, and I doubt I'll get clarity but here goes:

Looks like I'll be hammering up and down to Nottingham rather more than I anticipated. It's only 125 miles each way but the traffic can be rubbish and we're looking at 2h30m each way. Without traffic. Thursday / Friday was 5.5h in the car. Add a trip to Luton today and it's more like 7 hours driving in 3 days.

Apart from anything else the fuel costs are distinctly unpleasant.

My target is still to be in an MC or Strad before August 2020.

If I'm honest I'm not going to do anything until I know what my new package (oooerr) is but I see a few options:

1) Re-spray and fettle the GT and sell (roughly 18k) to clear the finance an buy something cheaper
2) Plough money into the GT and run it into the ground.
3) Anything?

Assuming go for 1) What do I replace the GT with? My personal fave currently is a Jag XF. Whatever suggested needs to be:
Fast (at least in a straight line)
Pretty imposing
Not so bad on the running costs
Comfortable.

QPV fits 1 and 2, and maybe 4
Audi perhaps?
Not massively keen on BMW or Mercs but...

I throw myself on the mercy of the forum.

Don't crucify me - but what about a Lexus GS? The 3rd gen cars are what £5k to £10k? It's a Toyota so definitely ticks box 3 running costs... and although the opposite of attractive it's probably loaded with toys and very comfortable

But a £5-6k GS300 and keep the GT or put the money towards the Strad

Lexus is ugly, but makes sense. Jag is just not doing it for me :)

I couldn't get in an ugly car. Bit like Dr. Huffhnenrr in The Man With Two Brains when he thought his GF's brain (Anne Errmelmahaye) had been transferred into a Gorilla.
