Well as you know I have a deposit down on one.

The plan was, spec it Easter 2012, pay a further £4k then delivery the end of the year.

I have not heard a word, plus all these Maserati version nonsense, it does not take a genius to work out its on the rocks.

I can see nothing wrong with idea that Maserati should be able to compete openly in the market place , No longer under Ferrari control that car is positioned nicely to challenge most major performance car manufacturers and looks good value at £90K if the numbers add up , about time they did a complete wow factor ( Merak/Boorer), and if it means taking over the failed 4C project the all the better , most of the research costs have already been born so whats to lose , i for one would love to see it come to fruition

Maserati are completely under the Ferrari cosh. They could not state the true output/tweak the Ecu on the 4.7 until Ferrari raised the power on the California. I have no issue with this as the Granturismo is what I want it to be, however, a 450PS lightweight mid engined Maserati won't happen.

If I was to buy another Maserati it would need to still have 4 seats so this one does not tick the right boxes other than it looks to be smaller than the Grantuirismo which is great for London.

As a 2 seater I would opt for a Ferrari 430 which has certainly come down a peg or two in price since the 458

That reference once used by Clarkson to describe life for Alfa under FIAT's marque pecking order with planet Ferrari at the top.

"I think (the 8c) could be faster than that, but then, that would make it faster than a Ferrari. And in Italy, that's a social no-no. It would be like vomiting on the Pope".
