hi all i,m still battling on with bringing my recent low mileage 3200gt purchase up to scratch and the list continues after both knock sensors, both upper rear arms, both rear phonic rings, oil & filters, starter motor, gearbox oil, diff oil, drive doughnut, coil packs battery, rear boomerang light being replaced and the list goes on and on!
my question is has any one encountered both front heated seats not heating up and memory buttons on both sides not working? the car is a 2000 pre obd model the tell tale on dash for seat heats works but no seats get warm back or bottoms any advice as to fuse relay locations or even where to check first would be great!
Another gremlin is the audible warning buzzer/beeper, if i remember correctly on my first 3200 it had an audible warning buzzer for door when lights where on etc if i,m not mistaken? any confirmation on this would be appreciated
and final issue, any one had any issues with the alarm siren not working also? lights flash but no noise believe its a meta unit fitted from new so any other brand replacements recommended

Hi,

The alarm siren unit on mine has gone as well. The internal battery goes and leaks all over the inside so i believe replacement is the only option and to the best of my knowledge only a second hand replacement are available if you can find one.

I would be interested in anyone else knows of a suitable other source.

My 3200 didn’t have a buzzer warning for lights on/door open.

The alarm siren has an internal battery when that fails the siren itself stops working. You can replace the siren if you want or the internal battery. Both BMW and TVR used the same siren in the U.K., they can be had new for £80

Not sure about the seat heaters but the memory function could be the button. Water drips into them and the corrode you can take them apart to clean the contacts. The whole unit pushes up and out.

many thanks will try the buttons first to see if there is any signs of corrosion / ingress of water. i noticed yesterday i get the two small beeps from seat when doing the programming but doesn't seem to memorize/recall the positions selected on either seat

Martin. I too have seen (on my Spyder) that the water drips down onto the buttons and fries them.

The roofs don't have gutters (that would be ugly) so the water generally pours in.

My electric seat used to go all they way forward in the middle of driving it. I just saw it as an automated accelerator function :)

Does it say somewhere in the handbook that a double beep indicates a fault with the seat/memory system?
